A common viral infection that affects the nose, throat and airways. Postnasal drip · sore throat · feeling of a lump in the back of the throat · trouble swallowing · runny nose · coughing at night. Most dry coughs can be treated at home with OTC medications like cough suppressants and throat lozenges. A dry or sometimes tickly cough is a cough that does not bring up any phlegm or mucus. A dry cough is a cough where no phlegm or mucus is produced (known as non-productive).
