It's usually automatic, which is handy. You don't really add it yourself. Just sign into your main account on the device. For an Android, that's your Google Account. For an iPhone, it's your Apple ID. This automatically links it to the service. Just double-check that 'Find My Device' or 'Find My' is switched on in your security or iCloud settings. Your new gear should then pop up on the map. Too easy
