NIOS D.El.Ed, National Institute of Open Schooling (An Autonomous Institution under Department of SE &L, MHRD, Govt. of India) Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.Ed). The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has been entrusted to conduct the training of the un-trained in-service elementary teachers by offering Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.Ed.) through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode across India.

The Programme was launched on 3rd October 2017 and as per the amendment in the RTE Act 2009, all the un-trained in-service elementary teachers have to successfully complete the D.EI.Ed. programme by March 2019.

A large number of untrained in-service elementary teachers have enrolled and pursued the D.EI.Ed. Programme through NIOS. The total fee for 1st year was 4500 rupees & for 2nd year was 6000 rupees. The candidates do not have to pay any money for attending the Personal Contact Programme (PCP) or Workshop, Assignments, Study Materials etc. These are arranged by NIOS without any extra cost to the learners.

The NIOS is committed to providing quality courses at an affordable cost as this is the thrust of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

If any centre coordinator or any other teacher/counsellor asks for any money please do not pay and complain to the District authorities and also to NIOS authorities. No extra money except for appearing in the examination at the rate of 250 rupees per paper each time will have to be paid through online only by the candidates.

No cash transaction should be done for anything to anyone. NIOS expects all teachers to cooperate and not to pay any money to anyone for any activity connected with the D.EI.Ed. Programme. The online fees are paid through the official website of D.EI.Ed. www.dled.nios.ac.in and www.nios.ac.in only.

Instances have come to notice wherein some agents/fake agencies and fake websites are providing misleading information and influencing the learners. It is brough to the notice of all the concerned that NIOS has neither engaged/authorized any agent nor agency and website for the purpose. All the updates and information is available only on the NIOS Official website www.nios.ac.in and www.dled.nios.ac.in.

National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is a national board of education in India for distance education. It administers the exams for Secondary and Senior Secondary Levels. Every year about 3,50,000 enrolls to the NIOS making it the largest open schooling system in the world. It offers flexible and continuous education to students who wish to continue their education through open and distance learning courses and systems. This helps students to obtain education at their own pace and time frame. Students who had to discontinue their education for medical issues, or financial constraints can easily continue their education when they are able to do so.

The NIOS D.EI.Ed is a 2 years course specially designed for the candidates who seek training as teachers to teach in primary schools across the country. There is a specified course for different states of the country. The main objective of NIOS D.EI.Ed is to help to teach aspirants to learn and develop adequate skills and knowledge to make the process of teaching and learning more effective.
