Reading a resistor's colour code is a handy skill, eh? It's a straightforward system once you get the hang of it. Each colour represents a number from 0 to 9. A common mnemonic helps you remember: Bad Beer Rots Our Young Guts But Vodka Goes Well. That's Black (0) through to White (9).

For a standard four-band resistor, the first two bands are your first two digits. The third band is the multiplier, telling you how many zeros to add. The last band, often gold or silver, indicates the tolerance.
