How to get residence proof by bill collector?

Don’t confuse bill collector’s receipt with official residence certificate. For legal purposes, only documents like Aadhaar, voter ID, or municipal certificate are accepted. Check the requirement first.

In my city, the municipal bill collector issues a Residence Certificate if you provide ration card and tax payment receipt. Ask in your local municipal office; procedures differ state to state.

Usually, residence proof is given in the form of an electricity bill, water bill, or property tax bill. You can visit your local bill collector office and request a copy with your name and address. That can be used as residence proof.

I once used a property tax bill issued by the bill collector as proof. It worked fine when I applied for my driving license.
