how to install nvflash?

Very odd. So, Here’s how I find the correct original bios and then flash the card back to stock. This guidance would come in handy for anyone needing to return their GPUs to stock bios or folks wanting to try different bios in their GPUs

Most reference boards are more or less exactly the same. They may have more or fewer fans and 3 power sockets, not two – so keep an eye out for that. Fortunately, Techpowerup provides a list of boards based on the same design so, when you look up an EVGA XC3 Ultra on their site, you’ll see results like this:

Clearly, it makes sense to choose designs with the same number of fans and PCI-E power sockets, for example; via the GPU bios page, you can gather some basic information about display port numbers and power requirements, and so on. A bit of googling never hurts,

So, download the correct bios, and NVflash. Put NVflash in a directory on your C:\ drive, and put the bios in there for safekeeping. Running NVflash is as simple as opening CMD as administrator and changing the directory to wherever you unzipped NVflash.

It’s essential to know the number the GPU has been assigned. There’s only one GPU in this machine so I’m guessing it’ll be 0. Use the –list argument to find out like so:

So, if you’re feeling confident, here’s how to flash new bios to a GPU using NVflash:

If you’re happy, press enter:

Once you’ve acknowledged that you’re happy to override the PCI subsystem ID, off it goes:

After this is complete, the machine will require a restart.

Once restarted I head to device manager to make sure all is well. It can take a few moments at boot for the device to reappear under “Display adapters”.

Finally, open GPU-Z to see what it thinks of the board:

And that, very briefly, is how to flash different bios to your GPU. EVGA Precision X1 will now recognize the card and will execute any newer firmware updates should they be available. Happy hashing!

In this tutorial, you will learn how to set up and use NVFlash v5.735.0 and newer.

Download from TechPowerUp Download from guru3d

If the program doesn’t work or doesn’t see your graphics card, try the following steps.

Возможно вы забыли снять защиту:

Use the f key if you need forced flashing.

You can cancel all checks using the following command:

The numbers here are device identifiers in the system.

With this error, the program does not see the video card. You need to explicitly specify which device name you want to flash (device bus ID).

nvflash64 with the key -а should list ALL good GeForce video adapters.

To do this, try to find out the device bus ID and flash it again with the command:

Also try using NVIDIA NVFlash version with board ID mismatch disabled.

Attention! To use these commands, you must fill in your parameters instead , if necessary. The word itself and parentheses are not written!

Example:

The list of supported commands is shown below.

Attention! So that if the command is specified, you must enter the file name. The word itself and parentheses are not written!

Example:

It is written like this:

This option -b allows you to make a BIOS backup.

It is important to understand before reading the list that this list of commands comes in two flavors: the long command name and its short synonym.

You only need to select and use one command option:

For example, if two commands are specified:

save b

We use either:

or:

Instead of you need to print the name of your file without parentheses.

Example:

NVFlash must be used in DOS mode when you boot your system. So use an MS-DOS boot disk and just copy this tool to it. download it from TechPowerUp.

The PCI subsys identifier is the card model. Please use the DOS version to resolve the error.

Also make sure that you have unlocked the BIOS:

Use the key -6:

The command -6 will allow you to undo the PCI Subsystem ID mismatch. In case of inconsistency, you need to confirm the action using the “y” key.

Note. Users with non-US keyboards may need to press “z” or similar, because “y” is not in the same place for all keyboard layouts.

SLI users will need to flash each card separately. The concept remains the same, but you will need to use the appropriate adapter index to flash the card. How to determine the adapter #. described above.

The flashing is done like this:

is a number, namely the index that you found with the command nvflash64 -a.

So, an example of a command for flashing a card with index 0:

When the monitor starts flashing, just wait until a message appears that you are done. Then reboot with Ctrl + Alt + Del and remove the USB stick.

What to do in this case? It’s simple, the program tells you that you entered the wrong command. Check each letter again and correct any mistakes.

Do you want update BIOS of your NVIDIA graphics card ?

Sometimes when you want to get the best performance or solve problems graphics ... installing the latest drivers is not enough ... you have to update the BIOS or vBIOS (VGA-BIOS) of the Graphic card.

This operation is much more complex, which is why I am only going to explain the steps for a NVIDIA graphics card.

In this tutorial you will discover the complete procedure to follow to flash BIOS with the last firmware to optimize the performance of your GPU.

It is very important to take note of the model of the GPU, because the same GPU (eg: GeForce) can have several constructors (e.g. MSI, Gigabyte, Asus, ....) and it is not necessary to install a firmware another model on your graphics card.

Let's go!

In order to flash your GPU you will need the following tools:

To download these tools, you just have to click on "Download"then choose a server (UK for example).

You can download the latest BIOS version for your graphics card this way.

As you can see in the following photo of my GeForce graphics card case, the vendor is MSI, the model is GTX 1650 SUPER and the model type is Ventus XS OC.

So on the site you have to specify in detail all the parameters then click on "Download"to download the Firmware in .ROM.

If you have the same BIOS version than the one on the site of techpowerup, it is not necessary to perform the flash ... unless you think the Firmware has been damaged ...

To find out the vBIOS version already used by your graphics card, you can either use GPU-Z or the NVIDIA Control Panel.

On GPU-Z you can get the BIOS version like this:

For those who don't have GPU-Z open the NVIDIA Control Panel from the notifications area.

Then click on "System information" at the bottom left.

Go down a bit and there you will have the BIOS version as in the screenshot below:

Unzip nvflash in any folder (ex: C: \ nvflash \) then run the following command to export / save the old Firmware:

Run the following command to remove the protection and then flash the graphics card.

Place the file .ROM that you downloaded in the same folder as nvflash64.exe then run the following command (change "biofile" by the name of the file or rename the file).

After 5 seconds press Y to confirm flashing, if your screen is black press Y multiple times until the image returns.

After flashing you must restart your machine and reinstall the drivers if necessary.

And here is dear reader

So, download the correct bios, and NVflash. Put NVflash in a directory on your C:\ drive, and put the bios in there for safekeeping. Running NVflash is as simple as opening CMD as administrator and changing the directory to wherever you unzipped NVflash. After this is complete, the machine will require a restart.
