How to lower ring doorbell volume on phone?
This is a common point of confusion! The volume of the Ring Doorbell notification on your phone is controlled by your phone's media volume or notification volume, not within the Ring app itself.
- On Android: While the Ring app is open or when you hear a notification, press the volume-up or volume-down button on the side of your phone. A volume slider should appear. Make sure it's set to adjust "Media" or "Notifications" and raise or lower it to your preference.
- On iPhone: Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics. Under "Ringer and Alerts," you can adjust the volume slider. Also, make sure "Change with Buttons" is turned on if you want to use the side buttons to adjust it.
So, just turn down your phone's general notification volume, and your Ring alerts will be quieter.
To add to that, you can also change the type of notification within the Ring app to make it less jarring. Go to the Ring app > Menu > Settings > Notification Settings. Here you can select a different sound that you find less loud or intrusive. While you can't control the decibel level of the sound file itself, choosing a softer chime instead of a loud ringtone can have the same effect of making it feel "lower." You can also set up "Quiet Hours" in the same menu to automatically silence notifications during the night.
