Plano, United States

This has always annoyed me.Everyone seems to be divided on this. It's not possible for organizations to decide.Santa Barbara is sometimes listed as Southern California in fishing reports.I identify more with the Central Coast than the South Coast when I'm from Santa Barbara. The local news agencies call their news Central Coast news.

It is lumped in as a way to distinguish it from LA.It's from the standpoint of oceanography a resounding no. Years ago it was considered to be a part of Southern California. The ocean is at least 5 degrees warmer south.I have lived north of the point in San Luis Obispo county for years. There are very different areas.A few decades ago, the Central Coast was used as a marketing tool. That is all.

It is also considered to be part of Southern California. The change in water temperatures and currents is believed to be the reason why the Central Coast starts at Point Conception.Santa Barbarans don't like to be compared to residents of Los Angeles.

Santa Barbara County, which extends far to the north of the city of Santa Barbara is a Central Coast county.
