Follow the absence protocol in your employer's handbook, or use your manager's preferred method of communication.

For some people, this means that they have to inform their manager at least two hours before their shift. You may be required to call in sick for some companies. You may need to let your clients and colleagues know that you're not in the office.

Employers need a doctor's note for leaves that last more than three days.
