Impact Wrestling is also known as IMPACT! A professional wrestling company was founded in Nashville, Tennessee. The promotion is a subsidiary of Anthem Sports & Entertainment, a company that also operates Anthem Wrestling.

The NWA-TNA was founded in 2002 by Jeff and Jerry Jarrett, but was not a member of the National Wrestling Alliance. In 2004, the promotion became known as Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), but continued to use the World Tag Team Championships as part of its deal with the NWA.

The company created its own championship after the deal was finalized. The promotion was changed to its current form in March of last year, after Anthem bought it, and is inspired by the company's main television show.

Since its inception, the promotion had been considered the second largest in the United States behind WWE. In 2017, Impact Wrestling was seen by some as a promotion that had lagged behind its former rival Ring of Honor, with the loss of his US television contract with Spike in 2014, as well as monetary and personnel problems, being noted as factors in his decline . However, since 2019 Impact is believed by many to have been rebounding through its continued international television syndication, supported by its parent company's purchase of AXS TV, which it subsequently began offer Impact programming. However, with the formation of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) that year, and that promotion's high-profile US television deal with TNT (which seen in more homes than AXS), Impact is still perceived as a smaller development in comparison.

The idea for Impact Wrestling began to take shape on a fishing trip between Bob Ryder, Jeff Jarrett, and Jerry Jarrett, where they discussed their future in the professional wrestling business after the cessation of WCW and ECW. The broadcasters did not view wrestling as good business because it was the only televised product.

The only one of the three who took this conversation seriously was Jeff Jarrett, who began to shape this idea in his mind. He wanted to involve former workers, such as Jeremy Borash, in the project. The company's beginnings were described on the DVD The History of TNA: Year 1. You were wondering who takes care of this and who takes care of that other.

The History of TNA: Year 1 states that finding financial backing was the hardest part. He said that they were asking people to invest in an idea, rather than a small change, and that it was already underway.

It was selling something that was different.

It was complex to sell the weekly PPV concept to the distribution companies. It was something that the pay per view companies had never considered, a weekly wrestling show for ten dollars. The mountain was sold to the companies by itself.

J Sports and Entertainment, the company created between Jerry Jarrett as CEO and Jeff Jarrett as President, announced the formation of Total Nonstop Action on May 10, 2002. The promotion's first show was held in June of 2002 and it was thanks to the help of the Jarretts.

The original business model of the company was different from the one used by the company. Not touring like the other big promotions helped keep their costs down.

His main source of income was the weekly pay per view shows of his show, until the appearance of his show, Xplosion.

The Nashville Firgrounds hosted most of the Galas in 2002 to cut production costs. The sales of the shows were low because they were cheaper than the monthly shows.

Jerry Jarrett sold his shares in the company in October 2002 after the company lost a lot of money.

On October 31, 2002, Panda Energy and J Sports and Entertainment formed a limited partnership. The stake that Panda Energy acquired in the company was a majority of the total company.

The daughter of Robert W. Carter was named President of the organization. The company's important positions were completed by former executives.

Frank Dickerson was named Chief Executive Officer and Chris Sobol was appointed Vice President of Operations.

Carter was heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of the company and was an avid wrestling fan. The company continued to lose money, but Panda Energy was able to grow the company.

On June 4, 2004, Fox Sports broadcasted a weekly show called "TnA Impact!", replacing weekly pay per view shows with monthly events as the main source of income.

The six-sided hexagonal ring was introduced by TNA.

The weekly events ceased on September 8, 2004, after 27 months, because they felt they already had a mass of fans who could sustain three-hour pay-per-views. On September 7, 2004, the first three-hour monthly pay-per-view, Victory Road, was held by TNA. November 2004.

The Nelson Corporation made a $10 million offer for the company. On the 31st of that month, the offer was rejected.

Morphoplex, one of the biggest advertisers in the world, came to offer 20 million dollars, but the proposal was also rejected.

According to some talents who worked for TNA at the time, such as Larry Zbyszko, it was actually TNA itself that had approached these companies to sell the business, since at that time it was said that Panda Energy had already lost 20 million dollars. dollars "with a TV show that was leading nowhere."

The television contract with Fox Sports was not renewed in the spring of 2005, just one year after it was signed.

On July 1, 2005, the company began airing Impact! from its official website, waiting for a new television contract.

The first line of action figures and toys from the company included a hexagonal ring and Ultimate X.

On September 11, 2005, the Unbreakable PPV was held by TNA. The triple threat match between A.J. Styles, Christopher Daniels, and Samoa Joe for the X Division Championship is remembered by Unbreakable.

Dave Meltzer gave this match 5 stars. This was the first time in the history of the company that they had received 5 stars.

Spike TV would broadcast the weekly show from October 1, 2005. The debut of Team 3D was on that episode.

Robert Carter announced in September 2005 that the company was expected to be profitable in October 2005, thanks to increased merchandising sales and advertising revenue.

During the period from 2005 to 2006 several famous wrestlers came to TNA, superstars like Kevin Nash, Rhino, Christian Cage, Sting, Scott Steiner and Kurt Angle.

Mick and Booker T would join the organization in the next few years.

In April of 2006 the production of shows over the Internet was begun by the alliance with YouTube.

The pay-per-views were held outside of the central filming location.

There is a zone in the city.

In January 2007, a mobile content agreement was reached with the new Motion, Inc. The brand was promoted through the start of the show and the podcasts were published through the website, which is called TNA U TV.

Impact! increased its audience and held a position in the prime time.

By June 2007, financial initiatives, including monthly pay-per-views, online merchandising sales, and video game sales, along with increasing exposure for their television show, had led to the turning of their situation around.

In an interview. "We are finally in a situation where we are starting to generate some serious income," Carter said. It has only been possible because of years of hard work. The one who says for sure that this is our moment is our pay -per-view Turning Point.

On October 4, 2007, the show was extended to two hours.

On March 27, 2008, the first live Impact! event.

On September 9, 2008, Midway Games released a game.

There is an event called the "TnA Impact!"

Pay-per-views have been broadcast in high definition since October 23, 2008.

A new high-definition system that includes new lighting and large, high-resolution screens has been introduced by the company. Despite the fact that it has been altered on several occasions, this set is still used for all of the Impact! and Pay Per View events.

The Video on Demand service was launched on June 21, 2009, where users could choose from three payment options.

In late 2009, then-TNA President Dixie Carter announced the signing of renowned wrestler and former WCW President and Producer Eric Bischoff. Changes to the company were introduced by Hogan and Bischoff to try to compete with the WWE.

On January 4, 2010 it would broadcast live on a Monday night in competition with the main WWE RAW show.

The program got the best audience ratings in its history, and it was three hours. Fighters like Scott Hall, Shannon Moore, and Jeff Hardy were featured.

The hexagonal ring was changed to the traditional ring in Genesis. Beginning March 8, 2010, Impact! will be broadcast on Mondays, competing directly with WWE Raw.

On May 3, 2010, it returned to Thursdays due to poor ratings.

The name of the show was changed to Impact Wrestling on May 5, 2011 and the logo was changed from red to blue and gray. On November 7, 2011, it was announced that it had signed a contract with Ohio Valley Wrestling to serve as a developmental territory.

On November 7, 2011, the company announced that it had reached an agreement with OVW to become its training and development territory. The Ring Kan King promotion was the basis for the new India affiliate of the TNA.

In May of 2012 the wrestling promotion was sued by the company for revealing "official deal secrets" to the other promotion in order to gain an unfair advantage. The lawsuit states that Wittenstein had met with a WWE official three weeks after he was fired. Two days after Wittenstein was fired, the wrestler, who was under contract, tried to end his contract.

The same charges were upheld by TNA, including interference with existing contracts, breaching of duty of loyalty, conversion, civil conspiracy, and violation of the Tennessee Uniform Trade Secrets Act. There is an injunction hearing on July 12.

On July 12 it was reported that the show would be three hours.

In January 2013 they announced that they would cut the ppv's except for the 4 main ones (Genesis, Lockdown, Slammiversary and Bound for Glory), and that instead of these, the One Night Only specials would be recorded that same month, which would premiere at beginning of every month except when it is a main event.

The Impact Wrestling episodes were going to be taped outside of the Impact on March 14. In different states of the US, going to the big arenas, changing the main scenery, a raised ramp that leads to the ring and the commentators table on one side of the ring is a zone.

A.J. Styles, Sting, Chris Sabin, Christopher Daniels, and Team 3D were some of the wrestlers who left the company during the period.

In October of 2013, the man known as the "Hustler hogan" left the company.

In January 2015, Discovery Communications will distribute the programming of the TNA after it ended its relationship with Spike TV.

In the United States, the shows from the company have moved to a different place. Discovery had rights in some international markets. At the time, Spike's reach was estimated to be over 97 million homes, while Destination America was thought to reach 59 million homes.

One of the fastest growing television networks was the Destination America network.

On January 7, 2015, Impact Wrestling aired on America. The company started two new shows, Impact Wrestling: Unlocked, hosted by Mike Tenay, and the company's greatest matches, a collection of the best matches.

Several wrestlers re-signed with the company from December to March 2015. Awesome Kong returned to the company after several years of absence. Tazz and Samoa Joe left the company together.

Billy Corgan, vocalist for The Smashing Pumpkins, joined the company as a talent and creative development producer.

Through the first quarter of 2015, the network earned more than 41.94 million viewers, making it the network's best first quarter ever. Impact Wrestling is one of the reasons for the increase in viewers.

In late 2015, Destination America stopped airing TNA programming.

On November 19th, the company signed a deal with Pop TV to broadcast Impact Wrestling, where it aired in a live special on January 5th, 2016 at the Sands Hotel and Casino in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Impact Wrestling introduced a new HD set, graphics, and music themes with the move to Pop. The semifinals and finals of the World Title Series were shown on the show. This phase saw the debuts of Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis, as well as the retirement of fighters such as Kurt Angle, Eric Young, Austin Aries, Bobby Roode and Velvet Sky.

Billy Corgan became the new president of the promotion on August 12th, 2015, while Dixie Carter became the president and chief strategy officer.

On October 13, 2016 Corgan sued TNA for not paying their loans, Corgan lent them money and they didn't repay their loans. The State of Tennessee tried to collect taxes that were not paid. Fight Network has since offered to help TNA and reimburse Corgan for the loans, while also offering additional financial assistance to TNA to help prevent them from filing for bankruptcy.

On October 31, Corgan put in place an injunction preventing the sale of the company, but the company had to be sold by November 1.

It is possible that one of the other minority owners could pay off Corgan.

On November 3, the company revealed that Anthem Sports & Entertainment provided a line of credit to finance the operations of the company, and that Corgan was no longer with the company as President.

Corgan stated that he was considering suing and converting the debt into stock, as well as not paying the debt at all, because neither Anthem nor TNA had repaid the debt.

Anthem Sports & Entertainment repaid Corgan's loans to the two companies after an agreement was made between Corgan and TNA.

Anthem Sports & Entertainment took over as the new owners of the professional wrestling league. The president of the company was removed. Impact Wrestling changed its name to Anthem after that.

On June 28, 2017, it was announced that Impact Wrestling would change its name and merge with GFW, but the details would be revealed at Slammiversary. The weekly program would be called GFW Impact!, and the company would be called Global Force Wrestling, because the company had already disappeared.

After the merger of the two brands, wrestlers like Magnus, Toxxin, and others came back to Impact.

On the other hand, the debuts of Matt Sydal, Alisha Edwards, Swoogle, and the return of Low Ki to Impact stood out.

As a consequence, the Impact World Heavyweight Championship was renamed to "GFW Unified World Heavyweight Championship", the Impact Knockouts Championship to "GFW Unified Knockouts Championship" and the Impact World Tag Team Championship to " GFW Unified World Tag Team Championship", although Impact's Grand Championship was later renamed "GFW Grand Championship" and Impact's X Division Championship was renamed "GFW X Division Championship".

Some wrestlers left the company before this, such as Magnus, Low Ki, and D'Angelo Dinero. Petey Williams and Taryn Terrell's reappearances, the debut of Johnny Impact, and the brothers Dave and Jake Crist are all noteworthy.

Anthem changed the company name back to Impact Wrestling after Jeff Jarrett left. The titles were renamed after this, with the exception of the maximum championship, which was called the "Impact Global Championship" at the beginning of the new recording sessions of the program in January.

After Bound for Glory took place, Impact Wrestling's headquarters and offices were relocated to Canada. Anthem hired Don Callis and Scott D'Amore.

The traditional four-sided ring was back in Impact's programming.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has caused restrictions on crowding in stadiums and sports arenas, Impact Wrestling has been broadcasting both its live shows and PPVs with an empty stage from Skyway Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, since March 2020, when the disease began to affect North America, and it will remain that way until ideal conditions exist again to return the public to the coliseums and arenas.

Impact held their Slammiversary in July of 2020. Wrestlers like The Motor City Machine Guns, Eric Young, Doc Gallows and EC3 were at the event. Fighters like Karl Anderson and HEATH SLAUGHTER made their Impact debut.

Impact began a partnership with All Elite Wrestling on December 8, 2020 and Kenny Omega made several appearances on the show. Kenny Omega made his Impact at Hard to Kill debut.
