A wiki is a type of collaboratively maintained information database. Most people are familiar with Wikipedia. However, there are many other wiki platforms and implementations. For organizations that use Microsoft Teams, the built-in wiki feature is a great option.

Using the Microsoft Teams wiki, anyone can learn to quickly contribute knowledge, make edits and share with the rest of the team. Wikis rely on HTML, but most (including the Teams feature) have built-in editors that make inputting markup easy, even if you don’t know anything about programming.

You can get started simply by creating a wiki tab for the channel. Then, the team can make changes as needed. For example, a software development team may use the wiki to manage documentation. Alternatively, an HR team may use it to capture information about the onboarding process. Any time your organization needs to keep track of some knowledge, this is an easy way to do so.

Better yet, the functionality is included with any Office 365 subscription that includes Teams. Therefore, chances are that your organization already has access to the wiki feature if you are using 365. If you aren’t currently using Office 365, you can get started easily by migrating to the Microsoft Cloud.

Furthermore, your team doesn’t need to switch over to yet another piece of software to use the wiki. Instead, simply add a tab to the current Teams channel. Whether you want to capture some short-term process information for a project or want to maintain long-term documentation, the Microsoft Teams wiki makes it easy.

One of the key challenges of knowledge management is that it is difficult to centralize. There is a lot of work involved in maintaining knowledge documentation, and no single person has access to all of a team’s knowledge. Therefore, a wiki is an excellent solution. It allows that work to be distributed throughout a group. Everyone can contribute and make updates as necessary.

Thus, if someone knows a unique detail about how processes are implemented at your organization, he or she can simply add that information. Someone from the accounts receivable team could add information about tricks for getting timely payments from customers, for example. Similarly, the full product development team can add information about the latest release, rather than delegating the job to one or a few people.

The basics of the Microsoft Teams wiki are extremely easy to pick up. Anyone who has ever authorized a document in Office 365 will immediately be able to get started. It shares the same design language with other Microsoft products. Plus, the editing tools are straightforward and familiar for most computer users.

Therefore, if you have someone new join the team, there will be minimal learning time necessary to master the wiki. This makes it great for knowledge sharing during onboarding.

One of the key features of wikis is hyperlinking. While this is nothing special (hyperlinking is prevalent in all of the web and beyond), it is especially useful in this context. It helps you to connect ideas in your database. For example, if you are using the wiki for product documentation, you can have an overview page that links to other sections of the wiki with additional details about the specifics.

Plus, you can pull the wiki into your chats. This makes it easy to collaborate on the wiki itself or to bring an idea from it into a related discussion.

The best way to cut toenails

Cutting your toenails properly is an important step in preventing painful ingrown toenails — a condition when nails curve and grow into the skin, which often leads to pain and sometimes to infection.

There are six main components or steps to cutting your toenails properly.

The first step is to use the proper nail-cutting tool. Nail clippers or manicure scissors are appropriate. Avoid tools such as regular scissors or knives that aren’t specifically designed for cutting nails.

You should have two nail clippers — one for your fingers and one for your toes. Since your toenails are broader and thicker, they require a larger clipper. Also, by having separate clippers, you reduce the chance of transferring bacteria or fungus between your feet and hands. Make sure to clean your clippers thoroughly between each use.

The second step is the frequency of cutting. Most people’s toenails grow about 2 millimeters (0.08 inches) a month, so it’s appropriate to cut them every six to eight weeks. That being said, if you are a very active person or an athlete — especially a runner — you will probably be more comfortable if you trim them more often.

The third step is answering a common question: “Should I cut my nails before or after I shower?” In most cases, the answer is “before.” Dry toenails are less likely to bend or tear when you cut them, so you will get a cleaner cut.

For people with very thick toenails, cutting will be easier after a shower.

The fourth step is determining how long to leave your toenails following the cut. This is important, because cutting your toenails too short could heighten your risk for ingrown toenails. If you leave your toenails too long, they are more likely to get caught on something and tear.

It’s recommended that you maintain your toenails at a length of about 1 to 2 millimeters (0.04 to 0.08 inches).

The fifth step is the actual cut. To avoid painful ingrown toenails, cut your toenails straight across. For many people, this is easiest to do in two cuts — the first one with the clippers slightly off the side of the nail to create a straight edge; the second to remove the rest of the nail following the line of the straight cut.

During the time of close everyone is more focused on getting the financial operations and number finalized so that they would prefer to spend less time worrying about approving and posting the Manual Journal Entries.

The user was looking for an option where he could save time in approving and posting the MJEs since the volume of ABC Co. is 4M lines approx. per month. During the close, time is very essential and the current process to approve and post the MJE and then run Transfer accounting for each JE batch was very time-consuming.

The user had to first approve the MJE and then go to transfer accounting and first update the batch (which takes around 5-10 mins) and then again go and manually click on transfer to transfer the batch.

This tedious process during the time of Close was causing issues to the MJE approver to keep track of the approvals to be made and the updating and running transfer accounting.

Solution:

Zuora Revenue has the ability to create a job similar to Transfer Accounting Master job which reduces the time consumed for MJE approval and manually clicking on a transfer just by adding the Criteria Name (JE Batch ID) and Criteria Value field which will be the mandatory fields.

The following setups are performed to create the Job:

Create a new Job replicating the Transfer Accounting Master Job.

In the job parameters, it is recommended that parameter name i.e. Criteria name and Criteria value should be mandatory so that Job isn’t submitted with blank parameter values.
