Scouts are involved in community development service projects. They participate in the fight against illiteracy. The success of the campaign against illiteracy in one province earned the Scouts worldwide recognition and a UNESCO award.

The Scouts are involved in the campaign to improve health and nutrition for children under the age of five. They are acting as extension workers and raising animals and vegetables.

The Scout emblem is a representation of the philosophy of a true Scout, who should make himself useful in all aspects of life, by incorporating the seed of the coconut palm, a common Indonesian native plant and all its parts.

The shape of the seed is indicative of the spirit of growth, physical strength, and high aspiration of the scout. There is a logo.

The members section and adult section are the main educational groups. The first is divided into different age groups with different educational systems, the second provides leaders and supports younger members.

The age groups have different ages.

Activities are done to get advancement through the advancement system. Pramuka Garuda is the highest rank in each age group.

There are special scout and scout units in Pramuka.

In those units, Rovers and Ventures can learn skills that are useful for their future careers, as well as helping the community. There are ten different units.
