The waning years of the Galactic Republic saw the death of Darth Maul and the emergence of the new Darth Vader. Darth Sidious was the one who took in the Nightbrother, who was born to Talzin, and who was then taken in by him as his apprentice.

During his break from training at the Academy, Sidious was taught the ways of the dark side by Darth Plagueis, who was a Sith.

He ran to the top of the mountain and came back with control. The Sith Lord lifted him up into the frozen lake.

While his master looked on, he couldn't get out. The boy feared for his life, but learned that he had to use his fear to swim hard to shore. Sidious didn't show any sign of being happy.

They just kept walking.

After three years within the Academy, he became friends with Kilindi Matako, who showed him compassion and gave him advice on how to survive an encounter with Trezza's hargrecks. He lied to Trezza about how he killed the chargrecks with his bare hands, when he actually used a shock net.

After another two years, the Rodians had matched up with Maul. He and the Yinchorri were commanded by a man who hunted Jedi and worked on Death Watch. During training, he had to take every hit.

Kracko would have suspected that he was a force user if he dodged every blow. The Rodians and Kracko were training with Maul in the latest mimetic suits, and he could be prepared for the Gora. He believed that he could be respected. He thought that they were trying to kill him. He launched through the force after forgetting about Sidious's orders, and took Kracko and the Rodians by surprise.

He hurt Hubnutz and was beating Kracko when he was told to stop by Trezza.

Sidious explained that Maul was not to blame. The dark side could make the Sith want to use their power. There could have been a Jedi who spied on Trezza's activities.

Sidious said that he can take him as his apprentice one day if plans are made for him. He used his own and swordsmanship with the Zabrak to hurt the other.

If Sidious and Trezza had ever met before using Kracko, would they expose his power under pressure?

After a week of recovery, Maul was ready for the Gora.

At the Academy headquarters, Kilindi and another cadet, Daleen, told him that Kracko was looking for him and was now at the Orsis Orbital station. the Yinchorri asked if Maul wanted some advice for the Gora, but he felt he could do without them, causing the Nautolan to show him the recent scars on the last Gora's arms and shoulders. Daleen wished him luck and noted that she and the Yinchorri were anticipating a surprise for him when he returned. After the girls left him, he silently yearned to return.

By the time he was seventeen years old, his Master had already made him into a weapon of pure hate. He respected those he considered worthy adversaries and gave them quick kills, even though he had a sense of honor.

Despite a traumatic childhood, Maul had filial feelings for his master, and he never contemplated killing him.

The final test came when Maul was abandoned by his master on an isolated Outer Rim world of Hypori, forced to survive alone while being pursued by hordes of assassins.

Sidious challenged his apprentice to a lightsaber battle, but the weak and hungry Maul quickly lost.

Sidious told him that he had failed and that he had been secretly training another person to replace him. In a final act of defiance, he lunged forward and sank his teeth into his master's hand. As he spat blood in his master's face in contempt, he realized that he was no match for the Dark Lord, and he braced himself for death. Sidious slammed the lightsaber down on the man, but did not kill him.

Sidious smiled.

By wanting to kill his master, Maul had passed the final test. There were no other apprentices.

Sidious took him to a new home on Coruscant, where he was cared for by a medical robot.

Politicians, crime bosses, merchants, and warlords were all killed by Maul. The appearance of Maul was designed to frighten the enemies of the Sith and even their allies. Despite his many successes, the Jedi were not won over by the man. The assassination of Siolo'urmanka was one of the first missions of the man.

In 33 BBY, Darth Plagueis and Darth Sidious instigated the Yinchorri Rising, taunting the Yinchorri into attacking the Republic and the Jedi, as part of their plan to destabilize the Republic from within. Darth Maul was sent to find Vilmarh "Villie" Grahrk, a small Devaronian smuggler who the Sith could manipulate into instigating the crisis. Sidious gave Grahrk the proposition to lead the Yinchorri after he found it in the slums.

Grahrk questioned why Maul wasn't the one to do the job, while at the same time making the mistake of calling the Zabrak a "bad guy", which earned him a brief drowned Force. The Yinchorri were prepared for war and the Devaronian went to find them. .

Sidious was asked how the Jedi were going to respond to crises.

Sidious said that he would have to fight the Yinchorri, but that they couldn't do anything else. The Yinchorri would be defeated or killed, he speculated. Maul couldn't help without intervening, as he watched the Yinchorri attack on the Jedi Temple, something he has been wanting to do himself for a long time. But Sidious instructed Maul to search for Vilmarh Grarhk via Holotransmitter, to which the Zabrak complied. The Yinchorri were prepared for battle.

The Mon Calamari's men were killed and the boss was saved by Maul in the homeworld of Dac.

The mobster tried to save his life, but he revealed that all the Vigos would meet on Ralltiir. The Sith Lord slashed at him when he asked to spare him.

After landing on Ralltiir, he deployed his dark-eye probe droids around the Black Sun Fortress. He waited for them to come back to him. He had learned that Alexi Gary Vigon and each of the others went inside alone, along with his professional bodyguards and independent escort. He made a report on Sidious.

The Dark Lord told his apprentices to leave no survivors. The Dark Eyes were sent up and the Bloodfin was ripped out by Maul.

He sped through the Ralltiir waters after launching himself from the cliff he had placed on Bloodfin.

Two men shot and killed him when he arrived at the keep. He was still on his speeder, and he activated his lightsaber and hit the blaster bolts. The Sith Lord stood between the enforcers on the platform and dove from his speeder. The Legion thought they could defeat him because he was a man.

The main entrance was left behind a trail of corpses, smoking, and falling off the cliff, as well as some on the ground. A man with a gun tried to ambush him, but was killed by a force choke hold.

The eight bodyguards of the Vigos' were met by a group of people, including an Iktotchi and a Kiffar.

Both Padawan Darsha Assant and her Master Anoon Bondara were dealt with by the same person. He almost lost his life in the explosion when Bondara destroyed his speeder bike.

The search for Assant, Pavan and their droid I-Five continued through the lower levels of Coruscant, when they were about to reach the lower levels. Darsha blew up some barrels of fuel to try to kill Maul, because she didn't feel like she was capable of defeating a superior rival, and Pavan and the droid were locked up in a carbonite freezing chamber. Even if he died trying.

After the explosion, he thought Pavan and the droid were dead. Darth Sidious, who was a secret Senator of Naboo, plotted with the Trade Federation to invade his planet in order to retaliate for the enforcement of trade routes in the Republic'soutlying star systems. The Federation prepared its army and blockaded Naboo. Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum, whom Palpatine intended to replace by using the invasion for political gain, sent Jedi Knights Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi to resolve the situation, but the Federation attempted to kill the two Jedi, forcing Jinn and Obi-Wan to go to the surface of Naboo. The Jedi saved Queen Padmé Amidala and escaped Naboo with her.

After the Invasion of Naboo, the Jedi were sent to settle the conflict.

After following their trail to Tatooine, using the Force—and killing Aneesa Dym, a Pa'lowick smuggler he encountered in his path—he sent his DRK-1 Dark Eye probe droids to find the location of the Jedi ship and Queen Padmé Amidala of Naboo.

After he was informed of his enemies in the Dune Sea, he boarded the Bloodfin and fought one of the Queen's protectors, Jedi MasterQui-Gon Jinn.

Jinn escaped but was afraid that he would become the Sith's eventual revenge. Darth Maul was even more eager to exact revenge on the Jedi after he failed in his attempt to stop the Queen and Chosen One from reaching Coruscant.

Sidious replaced the Supreme Chancellor with a new person, named Palpatine. Amidala and the Gungans allied with the Federation to take back Naboo, and with the help of Obi-Wan, they took the royal palace. Sidious sent Darth Maul to fight the two Jedi, who separated from the Queen in the hangar.

In reality, he intended to take the duel wherever he wanted, despite the intense battle that ensued. He led the Jedi out of the hangar and into the reactor room, where he fought them. He was knocked out when he turned towards Jinn after throwing off the platform. The Jedi Master stood up after being punched across the face by the man.

However, the Jedi Master unleashed a series of attacks and led Maul to one of the escape shaft rooms, which were protected by laser shields. The walls activated, and separated the three people.

The three took a break after the battle stopped.

Jinn attacked the Sith Lord after the wall was silenced. However, he was able to hold on.

After hitting the Jedi Master in the face with his weapon, the Jedi Master was impaled on the stomach, and after this act was finished, the Jedi Master was unable to counter adequately.

After waiting for the laser walls to go off, he turned to Kenobi. As soon as they did, the Padawan attacked Maul, catching him off guard, and then leaving his lightsaber in two. The broken part of the weapon was discarded by Maul, who unleashed a torrent of attacks. Obi-Wan was pushed into the reactor tube by Maul.

While Kenobi was clinging to the inlet nozzle, Maul threw the Padawan's lightsaber into the reactor tube, but he was knocked into the reactor by sai tok.

Mother Talzin knew that Maul had survived. During the Clone Wars, Talzin ordered the brother of the man to search for him.

Opress set out to find her brother after Talzin gave her a talisman that would help him find Maul. Opress arrived on Lotho Minor and found that his sister lived there, though he didn't know who he was and was barely aware of his own identity.

He was left with only one thing left to do, revenge against the Jedi. Opress took his brother to Dathomir, where Mother Talzin repaired his mind and gave him a pair of legs.

The member of the Jedi High Council, who had lost to Obi-Wan on Naboo, set out to avenge his loss by murdering civilians. The Jedi was saved by Asajj Ventress, Count Dooku's former apprentice and Dathomir witch, who once taught Opress.

In the first lightsaber battle in over a decade, Kenobi and Maul fought for the first time in over a decade, with the latter trying to anger the other by talking about how he killed Jinn. Ventress and Kenobi escaped the ship after Kenobi was enraged.

The Jedi would soon begin to chase him, giving him more chances to exact his revenge on him.

The brothers went to a Cybloc System banking station when they began to operate throughout the galaxy.

The safe was filled with credits after the brothers defeated the station guards. The latter's respect was earned by the fact that Maul disarmed his brother. The traditional Sith Rule of Two was applied to himself by the Master of Opress.

The brothers bribed a group of pirates to join them after they stole space station credits. Some people joined in, but others questioned Opress's motives and died as a result. The leader of the pirates was forced to watch as his men joined the other side.

The brothers were confronted by Obi-Wan and his companion, Adi Gallia, a member of the Jedi High Council, who followed them. Gallia's death resulted in a duel between the brothers and Kenobi lured them to the pirates' base where they continued their battle. When Opress's arm was severed by Kenobi, the retreat was ordered. He discovered that Ohnaka's forces had reconciled and united again, so that the hired pirates had turned against him.

The brothers escaped, but their escape cost Maul his artificial legs. They escaped their ship after one of Ohnaka's pirates hit it with a rocket launcher.

The Jedi believed that the two men had died on their ship.

The two Opress lost consciousness from lack of oxygen in their escape Pod. The Death Watch, a group led by a former Governor, discovered them unconscious and half- alive as they drift aimlessly through space.

Bo-Katan Kryze wished that Vizsla would kill the brothers, but he decided not to do so. If the Jedi were enemies of Opress and Maul, they were their friends. The men returned to their base on Zanbar and took Opress and Maul with them. Several medical droids replaced the legs that Mother Talzin had given to Maul with a pair of mechanical human legs, returning him to his previous height.

When Opress was still unconscious next to his brother, he tried to react but was overwhelmed by the thought. Opress was threatened by Bo-Katan and Vizsla if he didn't answer. After learning that they were Sith lords, Vizsla questioned Maul about his ties to Count Dooku.

He said that Opress and he were brothers and that they were the true lords of the Jedi. After being satisfied, Vizsla questioned him about his intentions, and he revealed that he was going to seek power and influence in order to get revenge on the Jedi. He told the Mandalorians that Obi-Wan was responsible for their troubles. Knowing that the Jedi Master was a close friend of his greatest enemy, the Mandalorian Duchess, the droids were ordered to complete their heals by Vizsla.

The Death Watch was formed to restore the true warrior nature of the Mandalorians, who had been rejected by the pacifists who ruled Mandalore. After failing to bring down the Mandalorian government, Vizsla informed the man of his exile and pondered who was responsible for it. The brothers and Death Watch had a common goal and a common enemy, and that's what Maul proposed. Bo-Katan said that the last time they allied with a Sith, they had betrayed them.

Bo-Katan thought that the Jedi were stronger than the Sith. As the other Mandalorians pointed their weapons at him, he claimed that he would get their revenge on Dooku and Kenobi thanks to his alliances. Bo-Katan was released and sent to see Opress while the Mandalorians voted on whether or not to accept an alliance.

When Opress came out of his coma, he used his new mechanical arm to destroy the medical droids that were watching. As Opress became nervous, Maul told him who they were with. He said that the Mandalorians would be more useful to his plans than the pirates were. Opress considered this weakness, but the leader of the Death Watch stated that his plans would be better developed by them and that they would use their resources to further their own ends.

The Death Watch accepted the alliance of Vizsla.

The army needed to recruit Black Sun in order to be built. The members of the Black Sun were going to be recruited in Mustafar.

The Black Sun leaders mocked them upon their arrival, but one of their leaders ended up joining the Taliban after Opress beheaded the other Black Sun leaders. The Pykes declared their loyalty to the Sith brothers when they returned to their camp on Zanbar.

The alliance traveled to Nal Hutta to convince the council to join. The sith brothers and Death Watch were attacked by bounty hunters after they initially refused. Almost everyone was killed when the alliance withdrew. Bo-Katan and his forces captured Oruba the Hutt after defeating the bounty hunters.

Jabba declared his and the Hutts' loyalty to the Sith brothers after Oruba was killed by Opress.

Lynchburg Hospital was built in 1911 as the first publicly funded and operated hospital in the city.
