Moana 1 was a massive hit for Disney in 2016. It is not surprising that the animated feature film ruled the box office with a gross collection of $650 million worldwide. Ron Clements’ Academy nominated movie follows fascinating storylines, adventurous characters, outstanding visuals, and a great music score. While fans are awaiting its return, Walter Disney Animation Studios has not made anything official in this regard. Although we are hopeful that its second installment will be announced soon considering its popularity among fans.

Walter Disney Animation Studios has not hinted yet that Moana is making a comeback to the theatres and streaming platforms. But there is a fair assumption that Disney will give a green signal to the movie sometime soon. If the speculations turn true, Moana 2 may be ready for a theatrical release by early or mid-2022.

Moana one portrayed a courageous and determined young girl, Moana. She is chosen by the sea to save the people of Polynesia village, which is also the protagonist’s home. What follows then is an adventurous journey of discovering something very precious: Moana’s own identity. The female character is on a mission to find the demigod, Maui, and eventually returning a mystical relic to the Goddess. Together, they fight monsters and hurdles before Moana returns to her home and becomes the Wayfinder for her people.

It is expected that Moana 2 will pick up from the end of part one. Talks about Disney’s first Latina princess are also forming part of the film gossip. So, there is a lot of surprises coming your way in the upcoming animated feature film. Stay tuned for more.

It is a safe bet that Auli’i Cravalho will be in the lead cast as Moana, the Wayfinder. In addition to this, Maui is set to reappear in Moana second despite the farewell in its previous part. Dawnye Johnson will continue to entertain the audience in its powerful voice as the demigod, Maui. If we believe the gossips, a new addition to the cast will be made, however, nothing is revealed by the creators about it yet.

Other casts of the film include Rachel House as Pools, Temura Morrison as Tuira, Jemaine Clement as Tamata, Alan Tudyk as Hein will, Nicole Scherzinger as Sina, and Te Kā as Villain

While the fans await Moana two, they have a chance to relive the adventures and joy from its last installment.

It’s nearly six  years since the first movie came out and it seems like ages ago. Disney hasn’t made any official announcements regarding the highly anticipated movie Moana 2 except that it has been in development for like two years. Ever since then, we haven’t heard a word from Disney. Is Moana 2 really in the works? Why is Disney taking such a long time to update us? We understand that there are many questions left unanswered and we can not help but get anxious.

According to rumours and speculations, Moana 2 will indeed get a sequel but when will it be released! No idea, only God knows when. Some people have also pointed out that the song “How Far I’ll Go” in the first movie has a hidden meaning to it. The song hints that Moana will be back and she’ll go on an adventure far beyond the seas and oceans and maybe she’ll land somewhere in the cities but nothing has been confirmed.

As per rumours, Moana 2 will unveil a new Latina princess just as we mentioned above but it has not been confirmed yet.

In December 2020, it was also announced that Moana will be getting a series version and will hit Disney+ in 2023. Does that mean we might get the sequel in 2022? We hope so. You can check out the post below:

For now, the filmmakers are completely hush-hush on the forthcoming sequel and until or unless they make any announcements, we can’t just make things up or make any assumptions. Disney is also yet to either confirm or dismiss the rumours. Let’s wait for some time for them to make any kind of announcements.

As of June 2023, there isn’t any update that we heard from the filmmakers. It was previously speculated that the much-anticipated part II of Moana is expected to arrive sometime in 2024 and we’re already halfway through the year till now an official release has not been declared nor a teaser trailer has been released.

Nonetheless, we still have months ahead of us for the year to end and hopefully, by then we will get an official announcement concerning the second part of the film’s release date and some other important updates.

Good news for everyone! A part 2 movie of Moana will not happen but the popular character will be back in the form of a series that is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2024.  It is reported that the series will continue the adventures of Moana from where the movie ended.

Dwayne Johnson, also known as “The Rock,” has announced that a live-action reimagining of the 2016 Disney hit feature film Moana is in development. Johnson will produce the film alongside Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, and Beau Flynn, with Auli‘i Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the original movie, serving as an executive producer. The film will be written by Jared Bush, who previously worked on Disney’s Oscar-winning films Encanto and Zootopia, with Dana Ledoux Miller also taking part in the production.

Moana, which grossed nearly $644 million at the global box office, will celebrate the culture, traditions, and communities of Pacific Islanders. The story follows the journey of a young woman who seeks to find her own path while reflecting on the lives of her ancestors. Johnson, who is of Samoan heritage, said that this story is emblematic of his people’s grace and warrior strength. The film will honor the story of Polynesian people through the realm of music and dance, which is at the core of who they are. The announcement comes as Disney celebrates 100 years of storytelling.
