The FDA has ordered the removal of products from the US market, while also issuing denial orders for its products.

The company must stop selling and distributing these products. The FDA said in a statement that those currently on the US market must be recalled.

The FDA said that the Juul devices and four types ofpods should be recalled.

The FDA made this decision after reviewing the company's premarket tobacco product applications and determining that the results of the company's studies had "insufficient and conflicting data - including regarding genotoxicity and leaching of products potentially harmful chemicals from company-owned e-liquid pods - that have not been adequately addressed."

The FDA is tasked with ensuring that tobacco products sold in this country meet the standard set by law, but the responsibility for demonstrating that a product meets those standards ultimately falls on the shoulders of the company. The acting director of the FDA's Center for Tobacco Products said in a news release.

Juul was given the chance to provide evidence that the marketing of its products complied with the standards. The company left us with important question marks, instead of providing evidence. The FDA is issuing marketing denial orders without the data necessary to determine the health risks.

FDA action focuses on importation, distribution, and sale. The FDA said it can't enforce against individual consumer possession or use of tobacco products.
