Cobra Kai season 3 saw plenty of change when it came to students and their dojos. Very few are where they started, including one character in particular.
When the series started, Daniel had two students: Sam and Robby. Now he and Johnny together have multiple students, but there is one of Daniel’s initial students missing.
Robby is no longer with Miyagi-Do. Robby also chose not to go with his dad to Eagle Fang Karate. But Robby is still doing karate. He chose Cobra Kai.
Why would he even think about choosing Cobra Kai and Kreese? Is it just to get back at Johnny and Danny for the events of season 3? Not fully.
Really, it’s Tory’s doing. Robby didn’t even seem to want to join any dojo until Tory’s words.
She shared her praise for Kreese. According to her, she has managed to channel her anger into something good. She likes what she feels when it comes to fighting thanks to Kreese.
And we all know Robby is just as angry inside as Tory is.
They have very similar backgrounds in the sense that they have to look out for themselves. So, it’s not surprising that Robby wants to be able to channel his anger and feel good about something in his life again.
Going on the expedition at the zoo with Tory, Hawk, Kyler and others also helped him feel like part of a team. He was the one who stole the snake, giving him immediate respect from Kyler and some others. That feeling of having friends after everything that happened can go a long way into doing the wrong thing.
After the events of Cobra Kai season 3, Robby also wants to get back at the other two senseis.
Let’s start with Daniel, who Robby views as being a traitor. He believed Daniel wanted to help him only for Daniel to lead him into a trap that involved the police. Rather than blaming his own actions, he blames Daniel for ending up in juvie.
While in there, Robby found out his dad wanted to visit. There was that little bit of hope that Johnny was going to have Robby’s back, and then Johnny didn’t show. Instead, Johnny put Miguel first, making Robby angrier toward his father. He feels deserted and unwanted, so naturally, he wants to do what he can to hurt Johnny even more.
The best way to hurt both Johnny and Daniel is to join Cobra Kai.
There was a little bit of hope that Johnny would choose Miyagi-Do, though. Or maybe he wouldn’t choose any karate.
Robby paid a visit to Miyagi-Do to see Sam. When he got there, he saw Sam in Miguel’s arms.
Now sure, Miguel and Sam had been sparring, but it did look like they were about to kiss. Robby saw exactly what it was. Sam can deny it all she wants, but there is chemistry between her and Miguel.
There’s no way Robby could even think about being in a dojo where either of them are. He’s hurt and lonely.

Postal officials presently are negotiating with builders and developers to use, on a voluntary basis, what is called "the neigborhood delivery and collection box unit."
The NBU, as it is called by postal workers, is a large alloy-metal box which stands on a 32-inch high metal pedestal, anchored to a concrete slab. The box can contain 8, 12 or 16 compartments, each 5 inches high, 6 inches wide and 15 inches deep. The compartments have individual key locks and are numbered. The NBU is similar to mailboxes used in apartment or office buildings, but is usually free-standing.
Bunn said the biggest selling point of the NBU's is it cuts the visual impact of mailboxes in a neighborhood.
Presently most new housing additions in Oklahoma City are being built with mailboxes at the curb.
"As we all know, curbline boxes are installed by the homeowner and can be various heights, appearances and is invariably leaning in various directions," he said.
The NBU's central mailbox serves the whole block from one end or the middle.
"The second biggest selling point," Bunn added, "is the NBU can afford more security to the individual."
He explained the postal patron's name is not on their compartment, thus providing more confidentiality. Instead, a number which corresponds to the number on the patron's key, signifies the owner of the box.
This will prevent criminals from associating a name on a mail box to someone's residence, he said.
Also, if a family moves, the post office can install new locks and issue new keys for the mailbox. On some NBU's, one compartment will be reserved for outgoing mail.
Because of the large size of the box, the postal carrier can put several day's mail into one compartment or parcels up to shoe-box size.
Bunn emphasized the NBU is more resistant to vandalism.
"We don't say the things are indestructible, but if someone tries to run over it, it'll be an experience they won't forget and one they won't be driving away from," he said.
Bunn said he used to be stationed at the Warr Acres branch.
"I used to have a lady who lived in the Willowridge housing addition come in every Monday and tell me how many curbline mailboxes were run over and destroyed over the weekend," he said.
One time, 28 curbline mailboxes were destroyed during a weekend, he said, and postal delivery to the homes was delayed for several days while homeowners reinstalled their mailboxes.
"That's the third selling point of the NBU's," he said. "They are maintained by the post office."
"So if someone does vandalize or destroy a NBU, we can have a new one installed and mail delivery resumed the following day," Bunn said.
He added in some cases, the post office will install NBU's free in new housing or apartment additions for developers or builders.
"Sometimes it may be more cost effective to install it ourselves because using an NBU will mean fewer delivery points for the postal carrier," the official said.
Bunn explained it costs $89 a year for the U.S. Postal Service to provide door-to-door delivery. This includes salaries, benefits to employees, fuel, vehicle maintenance and other costs.
The same residence with curb delivery would cost $69 annually.
But, NBU service would cost only $43, he said.
"Using NBU's will save energy and reduce overall delivery costs," Bunn said.
"And hopefully will help keep postal rates where they are," he added.
The postal official emphasized installing and using NBU's is "completely voluntary." Postal officials are not trying to make people with existing door or curb delivery change.
"We're installing most of the NBU's in new growth areas around the city," he said.
