Walt Disney World veterinarians and animal keepers are pulling back the curtain once again with the second season of “Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom.”

“There is so much to show and we really have to pick and choose what we’re going to show in each particular episode,” said Dr. Zak Gezon, Disney conservation manager.“ I think we really hit our stride in season 2. We’re able to do these stories that took weeks and weeks to film.”

The docuseries gives audiences an unprecedented access pass to the things happening behind-the-scenes at the animal theme park. The series highlights everyday activities and preventative health measures while also highlighting Disney’s commitment to reducing our environmental footprint and creating experiences that inspire action.

“I think the overall goal is connecting to the next generation through the animals, the environment and the world in a bigger picture,” said Rain, Disney’s animal keeper. “For us to offer perspective of all of the care and passion that goes into them, under managed care, we really want to connect everyone to that.”

This season, audiences see a number of different things including the birth of a new okapi, a giraffe getting an x-ray and even the rehabilitation and release of some stunned sea turtles.

On Wednesday, News 6 meteorologist Candace Campos sat down and talked with Dr. Zak, Dr. Jen, Dr. Geoff and Rain, who were featured in the second season.
