Stage 1 high blood pressure is when your blood pressure is greater than 130/80 but less than 140/90 MM Hg. You and your provider should consider the best treatment when considering it.
Stage 2 high blood pressure is when your blood pressure is over 140/90 MM Hg. Your provider will recommend lifestyle changes and start you on medication.
If you're going to have a final diagnosis of elevated blood pressure or high blood pressure, your provider should ask you to have the measurement done at home, at the pharmacy, or somewhere other than your doctor's office or hospital.
