My Mycoten antifungal cream came without an applicator. What's the proper and hygienic way to apply this cream to the affected area especially for intimate use using just my fingers or an alternative tool?
Also important: don’t overapply. More cream doesn’t mean faster healing—it can actually irritate sensitive skin. If symptoms don’t improve in a week it’s best to consult a doctor. NHS has a good general guide on antifungal creams: https://www.nhs.uk/medicines/antifungal-medicines/
If you’re uncomfortable using fingers you can use a disposable cotton swab or medical gloves. Just don’t reuse tools as that can spread the infection. Avoid inserting the cream internally unless a doctor specifically told you to do so.
Using clean fingers is absolutely fine as long as hygiene is followed. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after application use a small pea-sized amount and apply a thin layer only to the affected area. Make sure the skin is clean and dry before applying the cream.
