Should children be friends with their parents?

I don’t think parents should act completely like friends. Friendship may reduce discipline. Children need parents to set boundaries and guide them. Parents can be friendly but should remain authority figures too.

Yes, but with limits. Parents as friends create openness and trust. Children can share problems without fear. But parents must also keep authority when guidance is needed. A balance of friendship and respect makes the relationship healthy.
