Horned FrogOur mascot, the Horned Frog—actually a lizard—was also the name of our 1886 yearbook. Texas Christian University is a private Christian university in Fort Worth, Texas. The "horned frog" nickname and mascot refer to the Texas horned lizard, also known as the "horned frog". The costumed mascot's version is called Super Frog, and began appearing at sports events in 1979. Our mascot, the Horned Frog—actually a lizard—was also the name of our 1886 yearbook. TCU's Horned Frog ties go back to 1897, when the yearbook and the football team adopted the name of the once-plentiful Texas lizard.
