From what I understand, all individual taxpayers who are not subject to audit will get the benefit of this extension. This includes:- Salaried employees (usually filing ITR-1 or ITR-2) - Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) - Freelancers or self-employed people whose income is below the audit threshold Those who require a tax audit have a different deadline, normally in October or November. So basically, if you are in the non-audit category, this new due date applies to you.
