You can absolutely use HLOOKUP across different sheets, and it’s actually pretty straightforward once you get the syntax right. The key thing is that your lookup row must be the first row of the table you’re referencing.
Here’s a simple example:
=HLOOKUP(A1, Sheet2!A1:D5, 3, FALSE)
What’s happening here:
- A1 → lookup value from your current sheet
- Sheet2!A1:D5 → table range on another worksheet
- 3 → row number to return data from
- FALSE → exact match (recommended for reports)
