यह molecule stable इसलिए रहता है क्योंकि boron खाली orbital के जरिए electron pair accept कर सकता है। यही कारण है कि BF₃ Lewis acid की तरह behave करता है और ammonia जैसे bases के साथ आसानी से complex बना लेता है।
