Not completely. Used cars are still far cheaper than new ones. Even after GST cut, a used car can cost 40–50% less. For budget buyers, used cars remain more attractive.

I think WagonR is the biggest winner here. It is already Maruti’s top seller. After the GST rate cut, WagonR price will fall by around ₹60,000 in some variants. This is huge because WagonR is a family car, popular among first-time buyers as well as middle-class families. Swift and Dzire will also gain, but they were already slightly premium. The real push will come in small cars where every rupee matters.
