Atsu is a young, skilled warrior who becomes the central figure in Ghost of Yotei. She’s courageous, resourceful, and deeply connected to nature and the mystical forces of Mount Yōtei. Throughout the game, players experience her growth as she faces spirits, bandits, and environmental challenges, making her story emotionally engaging and immersive.

On average, completing the main story takes 25–30 hours, depending on playstyle and how much you explore. If you also tackle side quests, collectibles, and mythic tales, expect closer to 50–60 hours for a full experience.

Jumping in to emphasize the timing aspect: Since the game is set to release on October 2, 2025, pre-orders for the Collector's Edition (and all other versions) are currently live. If you're really set on getting it, don't wait, as the physical collector's items are always limited. The pre-order bonus, by the way, is an Atsu + Yōtei Six Avatar set and an In-game Mask, which you get no matter which edition you pre-order. So yes, you can pre-order, but get on it before they're gone for good!

It's not just the main quests either. Many of the side quests, especially the Mythic Tales, are now more complex chains that can be initiated in different ways and have multiple potential outcomes based on your choices during the quest. It's not quite The Witcher 3 level of branching, but it's a big step up from the largely linear side stories of the first game. The world feels much more reactive to your actions.

Welcome to Yotei! Here are some tips I wish I knew when I started: Embrace the Kami: Don't ignore the new spirit mechanics. Your Kami Techniques are not just for show; they're essential for crowd control and breaking enemy guards. Practice using them early and often. Gather Everything: Seriously, pick every herb, mine every ore node, and collect every resource you see. You'll need them for upgrading your gear, tools, and for crafting ammo. It becomes a lifesaver later. Do the Mythic Tales: These side quests are marked with a special blue icon. They are some of the best content in the game and always reward you with a powerful new ability, armor set, or weapon. Don't leave them for the endgame! Learn to Parry and Dodge: The combat is more aggressive than Tsushima. You can't just spam attack. Spend time in the Bamboo Strike training areas to really get the timing down for parries and dodges—it's the difference between life and death in duels. Use Your Horse:* Your horse isn't just for travel. You can fight from horseback, and it's incredibly effective against archers and scattered enemies. Don't forget to call it in the heat of battle!
