For university-level learning, check out Coursera and edX. Most of their courses can be 'audited' for free. This gives you access to all the video lectures and reading material. You just don't get the certificate. It is a fantastic deal.

For building a solid foundation in academic subjects, nothing beats Khan Academy. It's completely free and very well-structured.
