That's a surprisingly complex question, actually. For a classic incandescent bulb, you're looking at well over a dozen key minerals. The glass alone needs silica, limestone, and trona. The filament is made from tungsten. The metal cap needs copper and zinc from their respective ores. You also have molybdenum and iron for the internal wires. Modern LED bulbs are even more complicated, using various rare earth elements as well. It all adds up rather quickly

Good question. I reckon the big thing is technology. We have internet and computers everywhere. This makes the world very connected. We can talk to anyone, anywhere, very fast.
Also, science is a big part. We have better medicine and live longer. And most people live in big cities now, not on farms like long ago. Life is much faster, I think. So, I think it's heaps of technology and everyone being linked up. It is very different from the old times.
First, very important, you must stop the electricity. Go to your circuit breaker box. This is for your safety.
Then, take off the fan cover. It is maybe just very dirty inside. Use a vacuum to clean the dust from the fan and the motor. Clean the fan blades with a cloth. Sometimes, this is the only problem and it will work again.
With the power off, try to spin the fan blades with your finger. If they do not move, maybe the motor is broken. If the motor makes a big noise, it is also bad. It is often easier to replace the whole fan unit than just the motor.
If this does not work, maybe the problem is the switch on the wall. But if you are not sure, it is best to call an electrician. Be careful with electricity.
