The main difference is the "route" you take. QTS is usually gained through a PGCE or school-centered training (SCITT). QTLS is a professional status you "achieve" through a process called professional formation after you've already got your teaching qualification (like a Level 5 Diploma in Education). If you're coming from a trade background and want to teach in a college QTLS is likely the path you'll take.
