The stand primarily offers wild berries. These are presented in simple wooden quarts. You will also find crook-necked golden squash with its silver warts, a very rustic sight. Besides the farm produce, they even offer art for sale, like a beautifully painted mountain scene.

But the larger picture is what's truly important here. The rural folk are not just selling these items. They are trying to earn some hard cash from the city dwellers passing by in their fancy cars. They have a sincere hope that this 'city money' will help uplift their difficult lives. They are not asking for charity, mind you. They are simply offering their humble goods, waiting for a car to finally stop.
