What are the differences between data analysis, data mining, data science, machine learning, and big data?

Data analysis and data analysis are the same thing, that's how I see it."Machine Learning" is what I prefer to use the term "Data Mining".Data Science uses machine learning.The engineering of Data Science is Big Data.It is not a correct view to confuse Data Science with a big data engineer.

I think it is hard to get around so many terms which are similar to each other.If my sister came up confused and asked the same question, I would tell her this way.

How are we placed in the market, are we gaining customers, or are we losing them, what should we do to drive sales...

I will give a brief introduction to every term that you have mentioned.Let's begin.1, 2.Data analysis is often referred to as the techniques of data analytic.Data scientist can figure out which method gives more efficient results with less calculations based on this techniques.There are 2 items.We have a lot of data in our storage devices.Analyse if we don't.

I agree with the other answer that the space is still being defined, but it's getting clearer.From what I see in the market I am across a fair number of clients and industries as I used to work in consulting, and I have read a *lot* of white papers, I like the RapidMiner representation https://rapidminer.com/resource/introduction-advanced-analytics/ which I have pasted below.

Many of the maps are not independent and confound tools with concepts.
