What is a polynomial in standard form?
1 answer(s)
It is a special way to write a maths problem so it is tidy.
You look at the different parts of the polynomial. Each part has a letter, like 'x', with a small number on top. This is the power.
To make it standard form, you write the part with the highest power first. Then you write the part with the next highest power. You keep going from biggest power to smallest. The number that is on its own, with no letter, always goes at the very end.
So, 4x³ + x² - 5x + 2
is in standard form.
