In Australia, an honours degree is usually one extra year of study. You do it after your normal bachelor's degree. It is a lot of research work.
When you finish, the uni gives you a final grade. This is your 'class' of honours. A second class honours degree is a really good result. It shows you did a great job.
It is split into two levels. There is Second Class Division A, which is the higher one. People often call this a '2:1'. It's a very strong grade. Then there is Second Class Division B, the lower one. This is a '2:2'. It is still a good, solid pass. So, getting a second class honours is a good achievement.
