A VCUG, or a voiding cystourethrogram, is a minimally invasive test that uses a special x-ray technology called fluoroscopy to visualize your child's urinary tract and bladder. A voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG) is an exam that takes images of the urinary. A VCUG (Voiding Cystourethrogram) is a test that looks at how well your child's kidneys, ureters and bladder are working. A children's (pediatric) voiding cystourethrogram uses fluoroscopy – a form of real-time x-ray – to examine a child's bladder and lower urinary tract. Called a VCUG or cystogram, this test shows your doctor the size of your bladder and how well it can drain. A urine test can reveal whether your child has a UTI.
