An academic institute provides a broad-based education designed to deliver a wider education in the direction of the student's path. Academic courses are more likely to demand essays and logical reasoning, whereas vocational courses are about practical hands-on training. What is academic education? Of course, any type of learning can be classed as academic. The basic difference between these two is theory versus practice. Only the person about to embark on further education can decide which is “better ” for them, the vocational or the academic route. Keywords: vocational education and training (VET), academics, curriculum, assessment, differences.
