What is gsd in cognizant?
GSD means Global Service Desk. It is the main IT help desk for everyone who works at Cognizant.
So, if you are an employee there, you contact them with any tech problems. For example, if your laptop is not working, or you cannot log in to a system. They are the first people you should call for help.
When you contact them, they create a 'ticket'. This is just a record of your problem. They try to fix the issue for you right away.
It is called 'Global' because Cognizant is a very big company with offices everywhere in the world. The GSD supports all these people. That is why they are usually open 24/7. They can help someone in India and then help someone in America.
If the problem is very difficult, the GSD cannot fix it. So they send your ticket to another expert team. They make sure the right person helps you. Basically, they are the front door for all IT support inside the company.
