Eligible employers can apply to HMRC for a grant towards the employment costs of eligible individuals who are temporarily not working, or not working their usual hours, due to the outbreak, and who agree to be 'furloughed'. The JRS allows employers to claim 80% of the wages of staff (up to a maximum of £2,500 per employee) that they have furloughed. What is covered? For each furloughed worker, the employer can claim: 80% of reference pay. Are JRS Grants taxable? Yes. Only employees that you have successfully claimed a previous grant for will be eligible. Most JRS grants are approved at our June or November Board meetings.
