While "AMDGPU" is often what is talked about when it comes to the Radeon graphics driver code within the Linux kernel with it being the Direct Rendering Manager (DRM) driver for AMD GCN graphics cards and newer, there is also the AMDKFD kernel driver that plays a vital role for compute support. For people who like to review using git, the v5 patch set is located at: http://cgit. This is an important step in the process of upstreaming the driver, called KFD, to the Linux kernel 3. Bad BIOS UEFI tables are a common problem, which yield a non funtional iommu. AMDGPU Driver with KFD used by the ROCm project.
