What is meant by local self government?

It is the governance at the grassroots level. Instead of central or state government controlling everything, people of the area elect leaders (like Sarpanch, Ward members) to manage day-to-day needs like water supply, sanitation, schools, and roads.

The idea behind it is participatory democracy. Citizens get direct involvement in decision-making for their own community instead of depending only on higher authorities.

स्थानीय स्वशासन (Local Self Government) का मतलब है कि गाँव, कस्बा या शहर के लोग अपने चुने हुए प्रतिनिधियों के ज़रिये अपने मामलों का संचालन खुद करें। यह लोकतंत्र की जड़ को मजबूत करता है।

Local self government means a system where people of a particular locality govern themselves through elected representatives. In India, this includes Panchayati Raj in villages and Municipalities in cities.
