What is meant by the term osmoregulation class 11?

I always remembered it as “water housekeeping.” Without osmoregulation, cells would either shrink (lose water) or burst (gain too much water). Kidneys play a key role in humans.

Osmoregulation refers to the process of maintaining the balance of water and salts (ions) inside the body, despite changes in the external environment. For example, freshwater fish excrete lots of dilute urine to remove excess water, while marine fish conserve water and excrete salts.
