What is non ecr category for passport application?

I faced this during my passport application. Basically, ECR is for people who haven’t studied much (class 10 or below), since they need extra protection when going abroad for work. If you’re a graduate, you’re usually Non-ECR automatically.

Non-ECR = Non-Emigration Check Required. If you are educated beyond class 10 or fall into certain exempted categories, your passport will be marked as Non-ECR. That means you don’t need special emigration clearance to work abroad.
