What is saytzeff rule?
Alkenes with less number of hydrogens on the double-bonded carbon atoms are the preferred product. In organic chemistry, Zaitsev's rule is an empirical rule for predicting the favored alkene product in elimination reactions. Elimination reactions of some alkyl halides and alcohol will result in different alkenes and Saytzeff's Rule is used to predict the major product. According to Saytzeff rule "In dehydrohalogenation reactions, the preferred product is that alkene which has the greater number of alkyl groups.
