What is the difference between rcj6y and cj6y?

The sole difference between the two plugs lies in their heat range capabilities, indicated by the numbers 6 and 8 in their code. The difference is Heat Range, RCJ8Y is Hot, RCJ6Y Cold. Can anyone shed some light on the difference between a RCJ8Y plug and a CJ8Y plug? Will either work in Kawi V-Twin engines? Matt Koski. They have piles of Champion CJ6, RCJ6, & RCJ6Y, and some Arnold brand equivalent spark. confused: My chainsaw calls for a Champion CJ6Y plug.

Heat Range indicates the ability of spark plug to reach self-cleaning temperature to prevent carbon fouling. The insulator is longer for the hotter plug, but spark energy is not affected. If the engine manual recommends a RCJ6Y, but the only replacement available is RCJ7Y, I would use it. 15 of 15 found this helpful.

They are interchangeable. The CJ7Y is a non-resistor spark plug. The RCJ7Y is the same plug with a resistor. The resisitor plugs came out after the non-resistor plugs and were used to quieten the Radio Frequency (RF) interference in vehicles with AM-FM radios.

Is CJ6 same as RCJ6Y?
