: the fusion involving two polar nuclei and a sperm nucleus that occurs in double fertilization in a seed plant and results in the formation of the endosperm. Triple fusion is defined as fusion taking place between two polar nuclei and sperm nucleus. Fusion of male gamete with diploid secondary nucleus/central cell to form triploid primary endosperm nucleus is called as triple fusion as it involves three nuceli. central cell and forms a triple fusion, or endosperm, nucleus. The process of triple fusion occurs in the central cell of embryo sac.
