There are three basic regions of operation for a MOSFET. VGS(th) is a MOSFET designer's parameter and defines the point where the device is at the threshold of turning on. The MOSFET behaves as a resistor when VDS is low: – Drain current ID. (vDS > vGS - VT) No guess needed.
