when day does p valley come on?
P-Valley has been popular since before the second season even aired. Although Starz has not yet confirmed the third season, viewers are hopeful that it will be renewed soon. P-Valley is set in Pynk, a well-known strip club in Mississippi, and focuses on Mercedes Woodbine, a veteran dancer. The show also introduces Uncle Clifford Sayles, who played an important role in creating the Pynk.
From there, audiences fall in love with Miss Mississippi (Shannon Thornton), Autumn Night (Elarica Johnson), and of course, Gidget (Skyler Joy). After the conclusion of Season 2, fans were nervous that the show would be cancelled even though P Valley Season 3 was being prepared.
P-Valley is a Starz original series that premiered in 2020. It is set in Pynk, a world-renowned strip club in Mississippi, and follows the lives of its employees and guests. P-Valley has been praised for its realistic portrayal of the strip club industry and the diverse group of characters that it depicts. The show has been renewed for a second season, which is set to air in 2021.
The first season of P-Valley introduced viewers to the Pynk strip club and its employees, including veteran dancer Mercedes Woodbine, club owner Uncle Clifford Sayles, and dancers Miss Mississippi, Autumn Night, and Gidget. The season followed the characters as they navigated their personal and professional lives and ended with a cliffhanger that left viewers eager for more.
The second season of P-Valley is currently on air. Starz has not yet announced a specific P Valley Season 3 release date. However, based on the production schedule for the first and the second seasons, it is likely that the 3rd instalment will premiere sometime in 2023.
P-Valley is a must-watch show for fans of dramas with complex characters and plotlines. The third season of P-Valley is sure to be just as captivating as the first two, and viewers can’t wait to see what happens next.

The show went on hiatus for two years between Seasons 1 and 2 due to production delays, with the first season launching on July 12, 2020, and the second season debuting on June 3, 2022. Fans may not wait as long for Season 3 if Starz renews P-Valley soon after the Season 2 finale and avoids production issues. The potential continuation could premiere in the summer of 2023, but nothing is certain until Season 3 is given the go-ahead.
The finale of Season 2 has the potential to change the cast’s future, but it is most likely that Elarica Johnson, Brandee Evans, Harriett D. Foy, and Skyler Joy will be back for Season 3. Nicco Annan and Shannon Thornton have a high chance of returning, and there is also space for new members in the cast.
Katori Hall, the creator of P-Valley, told Entertainment Tonight that Megan Thee Stallion’s cameo in Season 2 was great to see. “It would be awesome if Cardi B could come filmed a scene at The Pynk,” she said. This comes after Cardi B tweeted her interest in appearing on the show sometime in 2021.
The season 2 finale of P-Valley set up some potentially interesting journeys for the characters in a potential third season. To start on a high note, the next instalment could explore Uncle Clifford and Lil’ Murda’s relationship now that they’ve gone public with their romance at Ernestine’s party.
Murda recently decided that he does not want to tour with Tina Snow any longer, impacting his rap career. Clifford is currently working on the Pynk; she bargained with Corbin to link the strip club with his forthcoming casino. Autumn stole over $40,000 from the company and fled, leaving them in debt.
On the other hand, Mercedes is looking ahead to retirement and spending more time with her daughter. But where will she go after graduating from the Pynk? Hall has a long-term vision for Mercedes: “I want her to have everything,” she said. “I want her to have a wonderful relationship with her daughter. I want her to have a wonderful relationship with her mother–they probably need therapy together to communicate better.”
The show’s next season could explore what happens to Keyshawn after her abusive partner Derrick calls child protective services, thwarting her plans to escape with her children. She calls Diamond for help, but he gets abducted by Big Bone and Big Bawse in the finale’s closing moments. This likely has something to do with Montavius’ death.

P-Valley has received critical acclaim and garnered nominations from the GLAAD Media Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, TCA Awards, and the NAACP Image Awards.
The series follows the lives of employees working at a strip club called The Pynk in the fictional city of Chucalissa, Mississippi.
P-Valley, a television adaptation of Katori Hall's play Pussy Valley, first went into development at Starz in August 2016 after being shopped around to several networks. On November 26, 2018, it was announced that the network had given a series order to the adaptation with Chernin Entertainment producing the series and Karena Evans set to direct the first episode. The eight-episode first season was made using all women directors.
The series premiered on July 12, 2020, and was renewed for a second season on July 27, 2020. Season two had ten episodes with production starting in June 2021. On February 2, 2022, Hall announced that season two would take place a few months after the season one finale and would include the COVID-19 pandemic. The second season premiered on June 3, 2022. On October 20, 2022, Starz renewed the series for a third season.
On May 11, 2023, it was announced that the filming of season three had halted in solidarity with the 2023 WGA strike. Showrunner Katori Hall stated, "Like many of my fellow showrunners, I feel as though my writing & producing duties are inextricably linked. We will not be filming until a fair deal is reached. #WGAStrong."
On November 26, 2018, Brandee Evans, Nicco Annan, Shannon Thornton, and J. On March 19, 2019, Tyler Lepley was cast as Diamond and Dan J. Johnson was cast as Corbin Kyle. On April 24, 2019, Isaiah Washington was cast in a recurring role. On June 24, 2019, Loretta Devine was cast in a recurring role and Skyler Joy was cast as Gidget. On June 25, 2019, Thomas Q. Jones was cast in a recurring role. Showrunner Katori Hall disputed that Washington was fired in an April 2022 interview with EW. After the season 2 finale it was announced that Elarica Johnson, whose character moved away from Chucalissa, would not return to the series.
Jamaica Craft serves as the show's choreographer. Before becoming a professional choreographer, she started her career dancing at TLC in Atlanta. The show has several body doubles and background dancers including Tess Artiste, Ashley Fox and Judy Gray. Professional exotic dancer Spyda is the stunt double for Brandee Evans.
Review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes reported an approval rating of 100% for the first season based on 32 reviews, with an average rating of 8.7/10. The website's critics consensus reads, "A stunning, lyrical piece of neon noir, P-Valley explores the unseen lives of strippers in Mississippi through Katori Hall's singular gaze, celebrating the beauty of the craft without sugarcoating the challenges." On Metacritic, it has a weighted average score of 85 out of 100 based on 16 reviews, indicating "universal acclaim".
Referred to as a Southern Gothic by critics, season one was praised for its portrayal of the Black women strippers' lives. Hannah Giorgis of The Atlantic wrote, "P-Valley is lush, resplendent, and sometimes haunting. All of the women's strife occurs against the backdrop of sweeping southern vistas or kaleidoscopic lighting, often with eerily bouncing beats soundtracking their dances." Similarly, Tambay Obenson reviewed the show for IndieWire, "These are richly crafted characters in what is essentially a quasi-family. It's obvious Hall did her homework, talking to dozens of strippers over six years, to make the production as authentic as possible."
Critics also noted the portrayal of social issues. Eric Deggans stated in a review for NPR, "...between the storylines about domestic abuse and a secret casino project, we see takes on colorism, closeted gay men and the struggle to survive when you're poor, Black and outside polite society in the South."
Brandee Evans' acting received positive reception. Writing for The Ringer, Allison Herman stated, "Evans is more than capable of carrying the show herself, and discovery of a freshly minted actress adds to the thrill." Nicco Annan's portrayal of Uncle Clifford was named to THR's list of Best TV Performances of 2020.
The second season received mainly positive critical reception. It holds an 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on ten critic ratings with an average rating of 8.0/10.
P-Valley spoilers follow.
We're as excited to return to the Pynk as you are. Thank goodness then that season three of P-Valley has been confirmed! Showrunner Katori Hall dropped the news in October 2022 saying:
"With its complex, dynamic, and beautifully flawed characters, this show is a love letter to marginalized communities in the American South who rarely see themselves reflected on screen, and it brings me immense joy to know that it has been embraced by folx worldwide. We wouldn’t be getting back up on that pony, without our fiercely devoted Pynk Posse.
"Y’all are our fire. And special thanks to the fuel: everyone who laid hands on this show. From the writers and producers to the cast to the crew to the executives, this show is made with great love, grit and glitter. It’s gonna take us a Mississippi minute before we’re back on your screens again, but best believe it’ll be well worth the wait."
No doubt Hall is chomping at the bit to get going. Earlier this year, the creator told Collider that the characters are "constantly talking to me".
"I always have ideas," said Hall. When speaking of the season two finale, she added:
“We delved into some dark stuff. We explored some caves and crevices this season. We cracked open people’s souls. There is light at the end of the tunnel for our Pynk family, and the audience is ready to laugh again.
"The season finale is really special. People who have been rooting for our Pynk family for so long are really going to love where we land everybody."
Season three is slated for 10 episodes and we can’t wait for that binge-fest – that's why you should join us here at Digital Spy as we reveal everything you need to know about a possible P-Valley season three.
COVID-related production delays forced a two-year gap between P-Valley's first and second outings which premiered on July 12, 2020, and June 3, 2022, respectively.
However, the wait for season three could be a lot shorter. In fact, new episodes could arrive as early as summer 2023, but only if the network gets a move on and makes it rain on this beloved show.
P-Valley season three will likely bring back most of the following cast members again for at least one more dance:
• Brandee Evans as Mercedes Woodbine• Nicco Annan as Uncle Clifford Sayles• Shannon Thornton as Keyshawn Harris/Miss Mississippi • Skyler Joy as Gidget• J Alphonse Nicholson as LaMarques/Lil Murda• Parker Sawyers as Andre Watkins• Harriett D. Foy as Patrice Woodbine• Dan J Johnson as Corbin Kyle• Tyler Lepley as Diamond• Morocco Omari as Big L • Dominic DeVore as Duffy• Jordan M. Cox as Derrick Wright• Psalms Salazar as Whisper
You might have noticed that Hailey Colton AKA Autumn Night is missing from this list, and that's because Elarica Johnson has already confirmed that she won't be returning for P-Valley season three.
Following season two's finale, showrunner Katori Hall told EW that this will likely be the last we see of Elarica:
"It's so clear that the strip club is a revolving door," said Hall. "For Autumn Hailey Lakeisha Savage, The Pynk has been a place where she has dealt with a lot of trauma, has found friends and lost friends. She was a woman who came in on the wind and her leaving on the wind."
"She saved The Pynk, she did something that Uncle Clifford could not at the time. She changed The Pynk, but she was changed by The Pynk and her relationship with Mercedes she was able to, for the first time in her life, feel like a sister... The fact that she is leaving with not one, but maybe two babies in her belly is a sign of hope."
Following that Elarica Johnson explained in another interview with EW why she decided to leave the show after just two seasons:
"Looking at the scripts this season, and the journeys of the characters and where The Pynk was going, Autumn's journey felt like it was coming to an end. She has done what she needed to do and it was time for her to move on."
It's not all bad news though. During a recent chat with Digital Spy, Nicco Annan exclusively told us he'd love to come back with a resounding yes:
"This ride, as an actor, is astronomical. I am very well aware of the blessed space that I'm in. It's been a lot of hard work to get here. It's been a long time. And so I'm happy. I'm happy. It feels like: let's go. It feels like the beginning, to be honest."
Brandee Evans also echoed this sentiment during the same interview with us:
"Oh, I'm up for season 3, 4, 5, 6. Keep me going. I am so here for it, and I just hope that, you know, the audience receives it well, and the networks sees that, and we're able to keep going."
Following Megan Thee Stallion's season two cameo, could another celebrity make a similar appearance in season three? Showrunner Katori Hall previously told Entertainment Tonight that she would happily welcome Cardi B following a tweet from her about the show:
"I would love for her to come down to The Pynk," said Katori, so don't be surprised if this ends up becoming a reality.
P-Valley's second season finale sure does feel like a series finale in some ways. Uncle Clifford told Mercedes to "dream new dreams," and it seems like pretty much everyone took that to heart.
For example, while Mercedes learned to embrace retirement, Lil' Murda and Uncle Clifford learned to love each other openly. And then there's Autumn who left Chucalissa for a new life entirely.
Now that Lil' Murda and Uncle Clifford have gone public with their romance, the ramifications of that could play a key role in possible future episodes. Things won't be easy though, not after Autumn stole $40,000 from the business.
And then there's Mercedes. Now that she has a lot more time on her hands, what will she do upon retiring from the Pynk?
Speaking to Elle, showrunner Katori Hall explained her long-term vision for Mercedes:
"I want her to have everything. I want her to have a wonderful relationship with her daughter. I want her to have a wonderful relationship with her mother. They probably need to go to therapy. They need to do all the things."
P-Valley's The Pynk hasn't been reopened just yet, but when it is, you can count on us to share a new season three trailer when it drops, hopefully in 2023.
Slated to be the last episode before the season finale on August 14, 2022, Episode 9 should also pack a sufficient amount of twists and turns, along with a possible cliffhanger. The synopsis also hints at a grand celebration with the Pynk family, something that people, and hopefully viewers, will not forget anytime soon.
The upcoming episode of P-Valley will air at 10 PM EST on Starz in America and Starzplay in the UK. Read on for more details.
The promo from Starz hints at a very exciting episode, especially since the reopening of the legendary club, The Pynk, is at the heart of the episode. The promo indicates that, the episode will center around the reopening, along with a constant focus on the personal struggles of the main characters.
A major part of this struggle will be dealing with Mercedes (Brandee Evans), who is now contemplating her future, and perhaps planning to move on to a different "dream." Both the ninth episode and the finale will heavily focus on Mercedes' resolve as she looks to be more than the marquee dancer of the club. This may be the end of the line for the brilliant character.
The official synopsis of the upcoming episode of P-Valley, as released by Starz, reads:
The synopsis hints at very little, apart from the reopening night, which is anticipated to take up the majority of the runtime. This episode will also set up the finale, and could possibly end on a cliffhanger.
