“It was a very sad year for me with losing my brother and everything. I was very honest about that and [I was] struggling with depression,” Vanderpump explained on Access Daily.

The animal lover said she was able to get through shooting Vanderpump Rules but when it came to RHOBH, she felt she couldn’t do it. Vanderpump even said that Andy Cohen told her it was a mistake for her to do season 9 and they should’ve given her a season off.

“It was very difficult, the whole situation. [They] all started coming at me and it was all based around the whole dog fiasco. It got too b*tchy and I just suddenly thought, ‘That’s it, I’m done,’” Vanderpump explained.

“I had so much going on. I was opening TomTom, Vanderpump Rules is a big show, we have the dog rescue center, we were opening in Vegas. There was just so much and when it all kind of piled on top of me, and I was emotionally depleted anyway, I just said, ‘You know what? I’m done,’” she added.

Vanderpump said she tried removing herself from the Puppygate situation and the show as her former co-stars were seemingly too aggressive about the ordeal. When they asked her which of the Housewives she would stay in touch, she refused to answer.

It was quite sad the way Vanderpump felt she was treated during season 9 of RHOBH and even more sad about how she didn’t get a proper sendoff. Vanderpump didn’t end on good terms with any of the ladies, least of all Kyle Richards who she was closest within the cast.

Richards was asked about how it was shooting season 10 without her former bestie, fans knew there was no reconciliation in sight.

“I’m literally going back and forth, and 100 times I’m going back and forth and just carrying on. Business as usual,” Richards told Hollywood Life about filming RHOBH at the same time as the Halloween film.

Richards is seemingly moving on from her friendship with Vanderpump and focusing on her projects at hand.

With Vanderpump off of RHOBH, she had more time to focus on her other hit show Vanderpump Rules. In the Bravo reality series, Vanderpump also serves as an executive producer and has creative input.

“Lisa is excited to be featured more on this season of Vanderpump Rules,” a close source told Hollywood Life. “At first, she was deciding what to do about returning to Housewives so she didn’t want to film for Vanderpump Rules at the same time, however, once the decision was made to quit [RHOBH], she couldn’t wait to be featured on camera more.”

The Vanderpump Dogs rescue founder was more engaged with the cast in season 8 which will make it more interesting as her “rules” take over.

“[Vanderpump] was hanging out with the cast much more, wanted to be included in the trips, showing up to events, etc. You will be seeing a lot more Lisa next season now that she’s got more time to film with the ‘kids’ as she calls them,” the insider added.

Lisa Vanderpump revealed that she would only return to “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” on one condition: if they “cleaned house.”

When asked if she’d consider rejoining, Vanderpump told Entertainment Tonight, “With this cast? No, it’d be impossible.”

She then remarked, “Unless they kind of cleaned house, then maybe.”

Vanderpump, 61, did reveal that she wouldn’t mind filming with two of the current cast members.

“I hear Garcelle [Beauvais] is very nice, and Sutton [Stracke], I hear is doing a good job,” adding, “It’d be great. Just be Sutton, Garcelle, and me, right?”

Vanderpump had nice things to say about Beauvais after she recently revealed that she’d be open to having Vanderpump return to the cast next season.

“I know the fans would love to see Lisa,” Beauvais told the Daily Mail Australia in September. “I don’t know her but I think she’d bring the show some new energy.”

Vanderpump commented on her remarks, saying, “Well, I think that’s a compliment. From what I hear, she’s a lovely woman … That’s very sweet that she would say that.”

Earlier this year, the mom of two said she’d also consider joining with newbie Kathy Hilton.

“Now if you could just get rid of the other five, then I think yeah, there’s a possibility,” she said, laughing, referring to Dorit Kemsley, Kyle Richards, Lisa Rinna, Erika Jayne, and Teddi Mellencamp.

But her former co-star says Lisa didn't want to leave, and had a hand in orchestrating the storylines on the Bravo reality show.

Kathryn Edwards, 55, who starred in one season of the show, claimed that the 59-year-old SUR owner wasn't ready to say goodbye to the show when she left.

“I don’t think that [Vanderpump] wanted to get off of the Housewife show,” Edwards told a recent episode of the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast.

She continued: "I think that she felt like she had to play her hand and I think she tried to stay on it to some degree with some of the things that I know of.”

Edwards - who starred on season 6 of the reality series - continued to claim that Lisa was controlling the storylines on the show.

“She asked for some specific things that the show wasn’t going to give her to make it better so she can save face,” the former reality star said.

“And she walked away. But she, in my opinion, kinda got a little bit too big for the ensemble cast. And she did produce, she did try to control the storylines.”

Kathryn told Yontef about one specific incident when the group was filming a scene at costar Erika Jayne‘s house and the situation was steered in a different direction by Vanderpump.

“We were filming the scene at Erika’s house andTom [Girardi] was there,” she said. “And it was after I had already told Vanderpump and the rest of the girls like, ‘Hey, you know, Erika was like, warning me about you and I should stay away from you.’

"And she said that like you’re a sniper or whatever it was. And so we’re there having this dinner and we were all great. Everyone was getting along.”

The Married With Children alum said that the cast were “having a really nice time,” but Vanderpump was contacted by a show producer, who told her to liven things up.

“Vanderpump got a text that said, ‘This dinner is really boring, make something happen,’” she explained. “So she showed it to me and I thought, OK, well, let’s go then. Let’s make dinner and get out of here.”

Kathryn told the podcast that the scene they filmed was edited to look more dramatic on TV.

“And the whole conversation was completely different than the way they ended up showing it,” Edwards said. “There was no kicking anyone out of the house. We all hugged. And it was great. But they made that look so different.”

Vanderpump first appeared on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2010 and left last year.

The restauranteur has continued to appear on her spinoff show, Vanderpump Rules.

The O.G. Housewife is leaving the Bravo show after 9 seasons, PEOPLE can confirm. The Daily Mail was the first to report the news.

Vanderpump, 58, explained her reasoning in an interview with Extra after accepting the Legacy Award at Thursday night’s 7th Annual Real to Reel: Portrayals and Perceptions of LGBT’s in Hollywood.

“The last year was a very negative year for me,” she said. “I feel like we’re moving forward. They have had their resolution. I just had a horrible time with the show and the women. It was a very sad time in my life and it wasn’t made any better. I just decided to walk away.”

A rep for Bravo did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

The news comes just after Andy Cohen revealed that Vanderpump, 58, did not attend the season 9 reunion taping.

“There’s major things happening,” he teased on Instagram. “There’s trouble afoot in Beverly Hills.”

Vanderpump had previously hinted that she planned to skip the reunion.

“The objective of the reunion is to reunite, right? And I have no inclination to reunite with the women who’ve been harassing me for 10 months now,” she told the DailyMailTV. “So in all probability, no.”

As for what that meant for her future on the show, she admitted it would be hard to return for another season.

“I think they’ve made it pretty impossible for me to go back frankly,” she said. “So … no.”

But that doesn’t mean Vanderpump is retreating from the public eye. On Thursday, she was busy filming her Bravo spinoff, Vanderpump Rules, at her restaurant SUR and was later honored by the city of Los Angeles for her advocacy and commitment to the LGBTQ community. She is expected to attend the Pride Parade on Sunday in Los Angeles.

The restaurateur had a major falling out with her castmates throughout the course of filming season 9. Kyle Richards previously confirmed she and Vanderpump, once inseparable partners in crime, haven’t spoken since a blowout fight at her mansion. The drama began over a dog that Dorit Kemsley adopted from Vanderpump’s rescue center and then gave away — and intensified as the ladies accused the animal rights advocate of planting stories in the press. Now known as Puppy Gate, the scandal has dominated this season’s storyline.

While Vanderpump continues to appear on the show, she stopped filming with the rest of the cast about halfway through the season.
