Where is dajjal now?
According to Islamic tradition, the Dajjal is alive right now. He is believed to be restrained on a remote, uncharted island somewhere on Earth. This comes from a famous account by a companion of the Prophet Muhammad named Tamim al-Dari. He was a seafarer who became shipwrecked on an island and encountered a massive man in chains. This man identified himself as the Dajjal, waiting for Allah's permission to be released. While he is believed to exist on an island, its exact location is unknown to humanity. His eventual appearance will be a major sign of the end times.
For devout Muslims, the focus is not on the physical whereabouts of Dajjal but on being spiritually prepared. The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) recommended reciting certain verses, like those from Surah Al-Kahf, for protection. So the question of “where” is less important than “when” and “how to protect oneself.”
In Islamic eschatology, Dajjal is considered a false messiah or deceiver who will appear near the end of times. According to many hadiths, Dajjal has not yet emerged. Therefore, asking “where is Dajjal now?” doesn’t have a geographical answer—he is hidden or not yet revealed. Believers are taught to be aware of his eventual arrival, which will be a major sign of the Day of Judgment.
Some traditions mention that Dajjal is alive but in hiding, possibly chained or confined in an unknown location until the time comes for him to appear. Scholars debate whether these narrations should be taken literally or symbolically. The dominant belief is that he will appear when the world is full of injustice, and his arrival will test people’s faith.
Different sects and scholars interpret Dajjal’s “location” differently. Some say he is in an island or remote place, as described in certain hadiths (the story of Tamim al-Dari). Others believe “Dajjal” is not a single person but a symbol of widespread deception, materialism, and corruption. So in that sense, “Dajjal” is already present in the world as an ideology rather than an individual.
