Mahatma Gandhi was born in a town called Porbandar. It's located in the state of Gujarat, in western India. It’s a coastal city, right on the Arabian Sea, which is quite a lovely setting.

His birthplace is actually quite well preserved. The ancestral home where he was born is now part of a memorial and temple complex called the Kirti Mandir. I believe you can still visit it today. It must be fascinating to see the humble beginnings of such an influential person. A rather important spot in modern history, I'd say. It’s certainly on my list of places to see one day.
