The Dota 2-inspired animated series, Dota: Dragon’s Blood, has been a mirror of the game’s lore since its release in 2021. Not only does the show do an excellent job of portraying Dota 2’s lore origins, but it also introduces quite a few new characters to the game’s story, like Filomena and Fymryn.

Considering Marci, one of the newest Dota 2 heroes, was first introduced in Dota: Dragon’s Blood, Dota 2 fans wonder whether Fymryn can be the next new character in the game. Fymryn has been an incremental part of Dota: Dragon’s Blood’s storyline since the first season. Throughout her thrilling adventures, Fymryn transitioned from being a mere elf to a goddess.

Fymryn is the reincarnation of Mene in Dota: Dragon’s Blood. She starts off the series as an Elf originating from Coedwig. Fymryn’s simple life changed as she decided to put her unique abilities to use and fulfill a prophecy that would bring Mene, the former goddess of the moon, back to life.

A limited number knew the fact that Fymryn would turn into Mene of characters in the show. Invoker and Terrorblade.

In a conversation between Terrorblade and Invoker, “And, the girl?” Terrorblade says, implying Fymryn. Though Invoker tries to hide the details, Terrorblade states that he knows her true name, Mene, and the place she occupies in Invoker’s heart, meaning the wizard cares for Fymryn like her daughter, Filomena.

A small number of elves continue to worship Mene instead of Selemene, and there’s also a prophecy that would bring the former goddess of the moon back to life.

“When the Invoker lays down the Lotuses of Mene on the Earth, Mene will return.” To turn this prophecy into reality, Fymryn steals Mene’s Lotuses from Selemene and brings her to Invoker in Dota: Dragon’s Blood’s first season.

Mene is the former goddess of the moon before Selemene. Mene disappears due to unknown reasons, and Selemene becomes the new goddess of the moon in Dota 2’s lore.

Yes, during Dota: Dragon’s Blood’s third book, Fymryn officially became Mene. Before becoming the goddess of the moon, the elf refused the role once but soon realized that she had no other choice.

Throughout Dota: Dragon’s Blood, Fymryn was seen demonstrating the abilities above. Shapeshifting and camouflaging allowed the elf to run dangerous errands, she was able to go head-to-head with Terrorblade thanks to her illusions.

Fymryn teleportation has only been good for short distances in the show, and it’s more similar to blinking abilities in Dota 2 that are seen on heroes like Anti-Mage and Queen of Pain.

From Season 3, she is the current Goddess of the Moon.

Lived in Coedwig (the Enclaves).

Stole Lotuses from the Nightsilver Woods and eventually meets The Invoker. When at the Invokers Tower, she meets Davion, Mirana, and Marci, where she tries to attack them, but is stopped by The Invoker. Fymryn and the trio make their way to the Nightsilver Woods. Fymryn and Davion hit it off which makes Mirana jealous. Mirana berates Fymryn, so Fymryn runs away, taking the box with the Lotus inside that the invoker gave Mirana with her so that she can return them because she almost started a war. She isn't successful though as she is attacked by dragons and the trio has to save her. Fymryn meets with Drysi and offers to help her out, she declines. During the battle at Nightsilver Woods, Fymryn saves Luna.

Terrorblade tries to get in her head and convince her to join his side, she eventually rejects him, though it takes longer than it should have. After spending sometime in the Invoker's tower, she discovers a part of his past and his relation with Selemene. He then reveals that Fymryn is absolutely the new Mene. Her people's love for Mene literally reincarnated her.

Fymryn confronted Selemene and took away the moonspark, before dying Selemene warned Fymryn that she would go mad like the last time. Fymryn then descended from the heavens as the new Goddess of the Moon, took the order of the dark moon and established a new alliance between the elves and the inhabitants of the forest of Nightsilver Woods.

During the main party battle against Terrorblade in Foulfell, the Invoker summons Fymryn to aid agains the demon. She is able to use her new found powers to do damage agains the demon's forces, but is not capable to hold him on her own.

Lovers with Idwal, Dyfed, and Adara before they were killed.

Valve finally decided to take the question of the Defense of the Ancients’ lore seriously and introduce it to a wider audience. It seems that Valve was tired of cosplaying From Software with their narrative approach of creating stories around the general basis of the world, so they hired Ashley Miller as a writer and asked him to make an understandable story, which sometimes creates even more questions than provides answers.

It has definitely been made to attract new players but it is difficult to get rid of the old habits. Valve could not leave us without easter eggs and put a few obvious (and some too obvious) hints about the future of the game in Dragon’s blood.

Now, I am talking about the characters who will 100% join the list of the playable Dota 2 heroes soon.

Disclaimer: you will see spoilers about the recently-released anime series DOTA: Dragon’s blood below, so we recommend you to watch the project before reading the material, and only then, it is worth returning and leave your outrage in the comments. My conscience is clear now, so we can continue.

Yes, the headline is too big but it is clear that the elf Fymryn will become a playable hero. A few factors prove it.

Fymryn is one of the key characters in the anime series DOTA: Dragon’s blood, a big part of the screen time is dedicated to her.

Despite Fymryn being a secondary character, the key conflict of the anime series is built around her. If she had not stolen the holy lotus flowers from the Silver forest and came to Invoker, there would have been no exile of Mirana and Luna’s bloody marches and Selemine would have continued enjoying the fanatic loyalty and love of her flock.

Another big argument in the favor of the theory that Fymryn is the next Dota 2 hero is her skills.

In Dragon’s blood, the elf’s skills are demonstrated in detail, showing her as a special one and paying attention to it. I do not think that we were watching her «leaving in the shadows» and the skill to create clones for no reason.

However, if the next playable hero is not Fymryn, it will definitely be her main enemy – the goddess of the dark moon Selemene.

The protectress of Mirana and Luna, the goddess of the dark moon, the usurper, and very beautiful lady Selemene fits the position of the next playable hero of the Defense of the Ancients.

Like Fymryn, she plays a key role in the series and will definitely appear beyond it, namely, in the Defense of the Ancients.

Selemene is a pretty obvious contender to be added as a playable hero. It was noticed on the background of the Defense of the Ancients a long time ago and, besides Mirana and Luna, at least one more Dota 2 goddess knows about her.

We are talking about Mars who has such unused phrases as «I can see your wounds because of tears in my eyes» and «You have been gone for a long time» in the Dota 2 files, these ones are obviously dedicated to someone like Selemene. Who will be able to accompany the god of war, except for the goddess of the moon? However, it is unclear how Invoker will react.

What is more, Selemene’s main attribute has already appeared in Dota 2 – those lotus flowers. As for me, it is a pretty direct precursor of the soonest appearance of the goddess of the dark moon in the Defense of the Ancients.

Kaden has become another decent contender to join the ranks of the playable Dota 2 heroes. The hero, like Selemene, has made his debut in person, however, he had been in the Dota 2 universe before, just like Selemene.

He is mentioned at least in Dota Underlords where there is an item with the obvious title – «Kaden’s sword». By the way, in the auto battler, he deals the damage as a part of the enemy’s maximum HP, which is covered in the series in a pretty interesting way.

In the scene of the battle with Slyrak, he literally describes its key mechanics – dealing the damage depending on the enemy’s health. The other skills of the legendary dragon knight are demonstrated in that scene – short jumps and the creation of armor.

However, Kaiden has way fewer chances to appear in Dota 2 than the above-mentioned Fymryn and Selemene soon. This colorful hero received way smaller attention in the series, which is a pity.

Besides three main contenders for the role of the next playable hero, I have found two more potential heroes. It is Filomena, the daughter of Selemene and the nameless prisoner of Luna who previously used to fight for the order of the Silver forest, and now, she has stopped believing in the fake goddess.

Despite these two having small screen time, they just complete the characters of the more important heroes (Invoker, Selemene, Luna) in terms of the scenario and there is still an opportunity that they will be added in Dota. Because we know Valve pretty well and if they can add a squirrel with a crossbow in the game, so why won’t they add the love child of Invoker and Selemene and the nameless warrior for truth?

With DOTA Dragon’s Blood book 2 now out, yet more eligible—and badass—candidates have tossed their hats in the ring. Now, it’s no longer implausible to consider that soon, you might be playing one of your favorite characters from the show. Just who could be the next Dota 2 hero from the anime?

Warning: Spoilers if you are yet to watch DOTA: Dragon’s Blood book 2.

Kaden is a legendary name in the Dragon’s Blood universe. Reputed as the strongest Dragon Knight, he’s the only known person to take down each of the eight types of dragons.

Besides his experience, he’s got some interesting abilities as well. His equipment in the show was forged from the remains of dragons, according to Dragon’s Blood creator Ashley Edward Miler, which explains his supernatural strength and swiftness in battle. These could be exciting starting points for his in-game abilities.

Kaden’s Blade is already an item in the auto battler spin off, Dota Underlords. It wouldn’t take much more for the man himself to participate in the war of the Ancients—and maybe claim a few more dragon scalps on the way.

The mysterious Vinari is often the showstopper in Dragon’s Blood, despite her relative lack of screen time. She’s a ruthlessly efficient cutthroat for hire, but there’s more to her than meets the eye.

In a surprise reveal, Vinari shows her true face to Luna while in battle—with a terrifying, jagged mouth that splits into three.

Her golden arrows would make for a distinctive signature skill. Turning an enemy into lifeless statues might be too strong of an in-game effect, but we’ll let IceFrog think of how to balance the numbers.

Whether it’s as a demon or assassin, Vinari would make a chilling addition to Dota 2.

As the goddess of the fervent Dark Moon Order, Dota 2 fans would have been familiar with Selemene’s name way before the anime ever came out, with Mirana and Luna consistently bringing her up. And Artifact (RIP) fans would recall one of the strongest cards to exist in the card game, Incarnation of Selemene.

That hasn’t changed in the anime as Selemene is one of the most important and powerful characters. Her status as one of the Dota world’s actual goddesses would probably make for fascinating conversations with the likes of Zeus and Mars, should she ever come to the game.

As for her skills, besides the obvious moon abilities, her lotuses would be a fine addition to her kit. As a symbol and catalyst of her power, themed abilities around the lotuses would make for unique visuals.

Along with Marci, Fymryn was probably one of the show’s most anticipated characters to become a Dota 2 hero. She’s grown tremendously over the anime’s run, and it seems like she’ll continue to be a pivotal character in a potential Dragon’s Blood book 3.

Besides her overall cuteness that had people spamming her fan art online, her abilities in the show could make for an elusive character suitable for varied playstyles.

Fymryn displays a dizzying array of powers in the Dragon’s Blood—short-range teleportation capable, creating clones, true sight, and even shapeshifting. So yes, if you want to be Naruto in Dota 2, your best bet would be the elf ninja.
